Contrary to Brienne's mun's appearances on the comm of late, the Gryffindor prefect always had time for an old man.

He was waiting for her at the table they always shared, a cold beer sitting next to a smallish box. Methos smiled when he saw Brienne, the goofy smile of a man clearly smitten.

"Well hello there," he said, leaning in for a kiss.

It had taken Brienne some time to be comfortable kissing Methos and letting him kiss her in return. But the immortal really did have the patience of a saint, and she returned the kiss with a smile.

"Hello, yourself," Brienne answered. "What's the occasion for this visit? Anything special? Not that I ever have any objections to seeing you for the sake of seeing you."

"A little bit of both. I wanted to see you and I found something special at a sorting I thought you might like. There's a rather skilled designer over in Slytherin who helped. Don't tell him I said that though, he's got on hell of an ego," he muttered.

Methos slid the box towards Brienne, the barest hint of nervousness in his eyes as he did so. Inside was a sizeable ruby dangling from a slender silver chain. Thaegan's ruby glowed a faint pink, darkening to a deep, pulsing red as it neared her.
