not just for Christmas ((compy post))

Coraline's Secret Santa present had been a lot more surprising than she expected. The baby Acromantula was currently living in a box in her room, being fed by very nervous house elves. Coraline had named her Berry, in the vague hope that giving her a name would make her seem more like a pet and less like a really big spider. It wasn't helping much ( Read more... )

.....okay, look. There's a man named Rubeus Hagrid, he's usually by the groundskeeper's hut. He likes to collect...creatures. If anyone would know, it's him.

OK, I will go find him. Thank you.

She decided to wait a while, though, in case anyone else had advice.

... Someone gave you a giant spider for Christmas, I'm guessing?

My secret santa was interesting too. But the other presents were very thotful.

She didn't think Smaug was likely to use the computers, but it couldn't hurt to be polite. Besides, they had been.

((ooc: yes, the typo is IC. Her typing's improved from canon, though...))

((Repost because the player is dumb. Sorry. =P))

From the Forbidden Forest? I'd think emulating the environment there would be best for the spider. It's cool (temperature-wise) and dark because the sun doesn't penetrate the canopy in many areas, and there are pine, oak, sycamore, yew, and beech trees, and knotgrass.

Acromantulas themselves are native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, and possess near-human intelligence and are capable of human speech. So entertaining your spider is probably a necessity if you don't want it to become bored and engage in destructive behavior. Their venom is also valued at 100 Galleons a pint. It could end up paying entirely for its own care if it had to.

There's much more information in the Hogwarts library (in the restricted section, anyway), if you're interested, but I don't know how much of it will help you care for one. I'd recommend finding out as much as you can if you intend to keep the spider. And good luck!

What do you expect? Victor's a cyborg. Of course he'd offer a didactic

Coraline printed this one out, for future reference. She'd known about the need to keep Berry entertained already, and the house elves had obtained several cat toys and for some reason a Rubik's cube, which the spider appeared satisfied with for now. She'd have to look for more books, though. The Restricted Section probably wasn't restricted from deputy prefects, and even if it was, Coraline was sure she could sneak in.

Thank you. I don't know if she is from the forest but I will try to keep her cool and I know spiders like dark places anyway. And I will find her more things to play with.

Maybe ask one of the elves? They seem to know a lot about nature. And keep it away from that albino with the sword. He's cracked.

Jenks sat down on the spacebar, resting for a moment. It took a lot of work to jump on every single key when he used the computer. A bit of a pain in the ass, but it kept him amused while he was stuck inside all winter.

I think I'll talk to Mr Hagrid first. But then I might ask them. Thank you.

And I'll try not to let her scare people.

If it was a normal spider, I'd be able to help. They come into my garden all the time. Since that one is big to you, it might just think I was a snack.
