[Open RP] Oh boy Secret Santa!

Dec 27, 2009 13:37

The house elves were arranging presents under the tree, well, what can fit anyway. Some of the bigger and more mobile things were placed nearby. Each gift has a pretty tag saying who it's for.

And where was the dog that arranged all this?

Er...he's sleeping on the table. Lots of yummy treats will do that to you.

When Ofdensen had found out that his name had been put into the Secret Santa he was more than a bit miffed (since he was never fond of Christmas cause of the commercialism and he resented it for ruining his birthday). He had suspected Toki had put his name in for kicks, not knowing that the one that put it in was closer to him.

Still, he did his part, got the info on his secret Santa from a house elf, and got him an appropriate gift. And so we come to his gift. He eyed it as if he expected it to attack before opening it.

His expression changed to one of surprised delight. A katana!

We'll pretend Nathan just hadn't bothered looking for the gift addressed to him yet. Poor Nathan gets no love from his Secret Santa.

The singer was more interested in what some random jackoff had given Ofdensen, anyway. He was pleased to see it was something that Ofdensen apparently liked, if his expression was anything to go by. It looked a lot like the sword Nathan had used to poke the death worm thingy that had electrocuted him. "So you're not pissed I signed you up?" he asked as he came over. He did have some idea of how Ofdensen felt about Christmas, and actually shared his sentiments for the most part-but he'd thought the Secret Santa thing might at least be fun for him.

"That was you? I thought it had been Toki!" Ofdensen eyed his katana. "But no, it was not a total loss."

"Aww, I know Toki's your favourite and all, but yeah," Nathan replied, playfully rolling his eyes. "It was me." And the katana reminded him. He took a look around the room to see if any wolves had stopped by yet. "I got assigned that Japanese wolf... goddess... person." Trust Nathan to give the main Shinto deity pet toys.

Even though Cathy had not signed up for Secret Santa, and therefore had not given a gift either, she still believed enough in the power of her own awesomeness that she showed up in the Great Hall, sorting through the packages in a vain attempt to find sometheig with her name on it.

At last, she came to the conclusion that no Christmas present was forthcoming, and so, bitterly disappointed, she wandered over to a punch bowl the house elves had set up and poured herself a glass, looking around for someone to emote to.

Sweden had counted all his julbocken. Hm. Thirteen. A bit much to handle, even for him. And there was a person that looked sad over there. He picked the prettiest one and nudged it in the direction of Cathy.

"Ah, the fair lady Catherine."

Lezard remembered her. She'd been Sorted perhaps a fortnight prior. Inspired by god-knows-what audacity, he asserted:

"I had hoped to see you, that I might give you this Yule gift, which I planned months ago."

He then regifted her with something from the basket his Secret Santa had left him. The first item that came to hand was the $5 Hot Topic gift certificate. (At least it wasn't the gay wizarding porn.) Apparently Lezard felt himself quite above the rules of Secret Santa. He had gotten it into his head that whoever ran Secret Santa had personally invited him to be involved, and therefore he could do whatever he liked. All this despite the fact he hadn't checked to see who was in charge of the Secret Santa exchange this year. (Was the name on the sign-up sheet? Presumably; but reading it would involve too much work, those many months ago!)

"I have done so many things, months ago, that I scarcely could recall what I had listed. How fortunate we should meet at this party!"

Cathy was about to throw the man with all the strange goat things a crumb of her attention, since he had been so thoughtful, and, let's face it, looked like the sort who could use a feminine influence in his life. But Lezard, that fascinating and galant young man from her sorting, had arrived by her side. Perhaps he would fight for her affections with the glowery goat man, and she would be forced to choose the victor!

She flashed Lezard a brilliant smile. "Why, I'm flattered, Mr. Valeth," she preened. "Especially because you obviously anticipated my coming when I didn't even know I would be here myself!" She fluttered her eyelashes, then looked away, shamefaced. "I'm afraid I don't have anything for you, though."

Sweden opened his gifts. He smiled when the herd of julbocken surrounded him, holding out his hand so they could dance on them. And the coat was nice and warm too.

((Say, how many of them are in the herd, anyway?))

((However many you want, but I had in mind at least a dozen of the critters so it's like a real herd. =D Goats are always happiest in groups.))

The raptor was crouched on the table thoroughly enjoying his boar feast. He looked up from it long enough to notice Sweden opening the gifts that Jasper had completely helped pick out and wrap, since the dinosaur sort of lacked the skills necessary for such tasks. Nonetheless, apparently not even he was immune to the holiday spirit. He tore off a chunk of the boar and hopped off the table, going over to Sweden and chirping at him, offering the meat.

Sweden blinked at this...dinosaur? Was he offering the meat to him?

Sweden took the meat in his hand and took a bite out of it. Yes, raw. It's not the weirdest thing he's ever eaten.

"Th'nk you." He gestured to his little herd and his coat. "Y're m's'cret Santa?" he asked.

[[Good to know. Minus one that's going to Cathy, I've already got names in mind for all of them :P]]

Turlough looked at all the things his secret Santa got him and had only one thing to say:

"That isn't funny."

Hagrid, now clad in his new scarf and mittens, came to peer over Turlough's shoulder. "Was it s'posed ter be funny?" he asked. "Yeh're always sayin' how yeh aren't from Earth..."

"There's no need to rub it in." Turlough sulked.

Hagrid grinned. "Well, mebbe this'll make yeh feel better." He produced a package from one of his many huge pockets and offered it to Turlough. It contained a small container of flobberworms. Another package joined the first, this one containing a pair of fuzzy bunny slippers in Turlough's size.

Yukimura found this tradition of gift giving most amusing, both the open gifts and the 'Secret Santa' ones. Though his research on the subject was rather confusing, he enjoyed the gifts regardless.

He opened the present with his gift, almost missing it because his names were reversed, remembering Mello's comment about Westerners giving their family name after their given name.

The blade was amazing. He hefted it, turning it between his hands to examine the artistry in it. When he ran his finger over the cannelure, he saw the change in color as the heat of his body warmed the blade. He took it to a near by candle and held it near, just enough to warm the metal and watched the effect. He laughed, amused and very pleased by the blade.

"I presume you had something to do with this?" Ofdensen asked Yukimura, still holding the katana like it was a delicate item. He remembered their conversation, after all.

"Ah, you guess well," Yukimura laughed. He tilted his head. "Does it please you? Or is it too different from your epee?"

He held his new dagger between them, his grip easy, the blade pointed down, obviously not a threat. He raised his hand, balancing the blade between his hands. "Have you seen such workmanship?" he asked, obviously delighted.

"It is different, but that is how I'd want it. I look forward to learning how to use it properly."

Ofdensen looked at the dagger with impressed eyes. "Quite good." Not to his tastes, of course, but still well.
