Fulfilling Deals (Closed RP - Kuronue & Akabane)

Stop avoiding it, he thought, taking a piece of parchment with an irritated air and scribbling on it. It was getting ridiculous, he was worrying about nothing. He was only human, after all, no matter how strong.

Week's up. Meet me by the lake.
Kuronue.

Calling a house-elf he gave it the crumbled paper and told it to take it to Akabane, then wandered ( Read more... )

The elf was less than thrilled with it's task. While Akabane had never been anything but polite to them, there was an air about him that made them uncomfortable. He was a predator.

The elf found him in his room, for once, resting after having a meal. He thanked it and waited until it left before putting on his coat and hat. He took his time walking there, though he arrived in short order. He stood, hands in his pockets, apparently unaware of his surroundings.

Akabane landed well within the range of Kuronue's weapons, just outside of arm's reach though. This time, he didn't bother recalling his blades, bringing out three more instead. "Yare, yare, I do hope I didn't overestimate you," he said, his voice still smooth, his breathing unchanged.

Kuronue narrowed his eyes. He pulled at the wires, caught his sicked, ducked forward and took a swing at Akabane. "I should hope you wouldn't underestimate me," he said, tone a little annoyed.

So, Kuronue was one who fought out of anger. Interesting. Akabane reached up for his hat as he dodged back, not defending himself just yet. "It would be worse if I had overestimated," he said, his tone carrying some amusement. "That would be disappointing after I fulfilled my part of our bargain."

Kuronue snorted. "I couldn't see why you would have overestimated me when you seemed to appreciate that I had not done so with you. Or are you really that much of a hypocrite?" He ducked closer to Akabane, using his wings for speed, refusing to go on defence again just yet. He swung at Akabane again, using his sickles as extensions of himself, their wires coiled around his wrists and arms. He attacked again and again, trying to provoke Akabane into fighting back, to see if he would do anything more than merely play darts with him as the target.

Akabane laughed, keeping himself just out of Kuronue's reach. "I did not wish to be underestimated," he said. He suddenly switched directions, darting under Kuronue's arm and behind his back, throwing six blades as he turned to face Kuronue again, three from each hand. "Perhaps your ears need cleaning?"

"Same thing," he growled, then swore. He hated it when people attacked him from behind, never did so himself. He ducked, panicking a little when four of the blades nicked his wings in different places. He pressed a hand to the ground steadied himself, and jumped for Akabane, turning to him as he did. He flung a sickle out at Akabane, putting quite a bit of force behind it.

Akabane was pleased to see more aggressive maneuvers from Kuronue. He dodged the sickle, but it caught his coat, slicing through it close to his leg. "Not quite," he said, his voice still calm. He brought out three blades and set them spinning in his hand, a type of shield.

The sheild wouldn't let him get any closer. Block after block Kuronue wasn't able to hit him any more, but at least he'd managed to put a tear in Akabane's pretty suit. That at least, made Kuronue smirk. He threw a sickle, pulled it to come around from behind Akabane, use the wire and his own body to block any potential escapes and attacked from low to the ground, trying to get under his odd sheild.

"One would think," Akabane said, three more blades in his free hand, "that you would fight in three dimensions instead of two." He leapt, throwing the blades at Kuronue, his hand then going to his hat to keep it on his head as he apparently flew in a cartwheel over Kuronue's body.

"Oh, telling me how to fight now?" he asked, ducking to the side. The scalpels managed to cut through the wire (thin as it was it was easy to wear down) and Kuronue scowled as the sickle fell to the grass. He pulled his other sick back to him and twisted, swinging it back around to Akabane, trying to use the wire to immobilise or at least slow him down.

Akabane snorted. "No, I'm simply trying to make this fight worth my time," he said blandly. And, it was more enjoyable when he provoked Kuronue. "Please, continue," he added, darting forward, a single scalpel in his hand.

"You really are far too overconfident!" he spat, he jumped back, eager to avoid that scalpel. He was trying to move them around so he could pick up his other sickle, but Akabane had come too fast and his other sickle was still swinging on its own momentum. He'd have to block Akabane with is own hands.

"You have not given me reason not to be confident," Akabane countered, swinging with the scalpel, pushing his advantage. "Are you really a fool?" he asked. He stopped the three scalpels from spinning, holding them between his fingers and slashed at Kuronue with those as well.

Having blocked instinctively with his arm to keep anything serious from being injured, Kuronue's forearm now supported a series of deep gashes and a lack of leather bindings. He scowled. He focused on Akabane's hands, smacked them away when they rose again and kicked him back. With this small amount of borrowed time he pulled his sickle back to him and stalked to the side slowly, circling.

"Ah, like that," Akabane purred, letting himself be pushed back. "You can fight," he added, his tone approving, though it might be taken as condescending and probably would, he figured. "You may actually be worth the time," he added, his blades disappearing into his hands as he stood, watching Kuronue circle him.
