a gift from Kojiro (open to all)

Nov 21, 2009 22:12

Bei Nacht und Nebel, when all through the House, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse, Kojiro left an early Yule present for everyone.

He installed it in the Great Hall, right inside the entrance door, where everyone would be sure to see it.

It was a fortune-telling machine, its slots modified to take generic tokens of any kind -- a ( Read more... )

Kuronue would have taken insult to being called an 'early bird', but thankfully no one had done so to his face ( ... )

Kaga had initially come in for lunch, honest.

He paused at finding Kuronue sprawled on the ground, seemingly out cold.

While Kaga was still a bit distrustful after their last encounter, he did keep in mind that he was still Kurama's friend, and Kaga was willing to give him a second chance.

Hesitantly he knelt beside Kuronue and shook his shoulder.

"Kuronue?"

For a second, Kuronue thought he was back in Makai, but when he opened his eyes and the pin pricks of light receded from his vision, there was Kaga, and here he was on the floor, his wings screaming in protest at his position.

"Oh," he said, then blinked. "Hi." Still a bit out of it he hadn't quite realised what had happened.

Kaga pulled back, still a bit hesitant about being too close. "Are you all right? You were sprawled on the floor."

Turlough glared at that thing. Some cheap Earthling invention for mindless people. Still, there was nothing better to do. And Turlough needed a laugh.

Sadly, he didn't get one.

Love thine enemy is not a wise option.

"Go to hell," Turlough said.

Well, why not. It was a good way to kill a few minutes. Nathan had nothing better to do at the moment, anyway, so he fed the machine a washer, and it read his fortune which the mun indeed screencapped out of amusement: "Accept the next proposition you hear ( ... )

"Are you putting washers in that machine?"

Ofdensen kinda missed the point, there.

"Well... yeah. That's what they're there for." Or so Nathan assumed. Why else would a big bag of washers just be sitting next to the thing like that? He stepped aside and turned to look at Ofdensen with a slight smile. "C'mon. Your turn now," he said, privately hoping Ofdensen would get one of the really embarrassing ones. He was pretty hot when he was flustered, after all.

Ofdensen eyed the washers dubiously (they're washers, after all. Not coins) but took one anyway and put it in the machine.

"Relax already!"

Ofdensen blinked. "Er..."

This certainly wasn't the kind of fortune telling Sasuke was accustomed to, but he decided to give the... machine? a try, anyway. He used the currency of the wizarding world, and it read his fortune: "To one who waits, a moment seems a year." He looked at the strange thing with a stricken expression. The 'fortune teller' had clearly hit home with that one.

Yukimura had meant to pass by, but the expression on Sasuke's face stopped him. He didn't need a machine to tell him his future. He'd had a peddler and a seer tell him that. What he was unsure of would resolve itself in time. "I don't think I've seen that expression in a long time," Yukimura said gently, leaning against the doorway, far enough away that he couldn't have seen what Sasuke was reading.

Sasuke hadn't been so absorbed with the strange machine that Yukimura's presence or voice could startle him; it was likely he'd been aware of his master even before he'd set foot in the Great Hall. When the shinobi turned slightly to glance up at Yukimura, his expression was already becoming closed off again, by this point purely out of habit.

"Yukimura," he said quietly, partly a greeting, and mostly because he didn't know what else to say, at the moment. Yukimura hadn't surprised him, but the oddly appropriate fortune had.

Yukimura tilted his head slightly, watching as Sasuke retreated from him again. "If it's something you'd wish to discuss..." he offered, meaning it in the most general sense of the words. "Or would you prefer to spar?" he asked, pushing away from the doorway.

Insert washer.

"Exotic dancer get applause, call girl just get clap."

Naturally, having experience with magic and not so much with non-weapon technology, Kameo took this very seriously. Without a word, the elf darted back to Hufflepuff by way of hovering. Did she have any dancing outfits? Hmm...
