Eh-oh and uh-oh. (open RP / ongoing event)

Oct 11, 2009 17:19

There had been only the most obscure and private of warnings. There were beings who could have predicted the event, with runes or through oracular visions, or by whatever arcane powers they brought with them to Hogwarts -- whatever powers had not fallen prey to the castle's unpredictable field of interference. But how might they have prevented it ( Read more... )

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!"

This was worse than the time at Source Cave!

Sunflora was shrieking as she ran out of the castle, slightly singed and burnt from when a tapestry combusted close to her. And it really HURT!

Sunflora snuffled slightly as she slowed down. She wanted a Rawst Berry.

"By God! Is that a baby up there?"

Ah, George, missing the point as usual.

The Chatelaine Thecla shielded her eyes unnecessarily as she gazed toward the cackling heavens. The Baby Sun was not so bright that it would blind the beholder. Its ugly face could be viewed directly.

"When the sages spoke of a New Sun," she murmured, troubled, "I would not have dreamed they meant something such as this ..."

Mikami overheard this, and turned to her in panic. "You can see that thing too? Please, tell me it's not just me."

"I see it too," Thecla confirmed. Such was the weird fascination compelled by the Baby Sun, the Chatelaine did not even spare a moment to admire Mikami's enviably luscious locks. "The people of Urth prophesied the birth of a New Sun ..."

That Urth was a homonym of Earth might not help matters here.

The translation effect of Hogwarts meant that Mikami normally heard everyone in Japanese, so he was confused for a moment that it seemed to have failed briefly. That was a minor concern, though, when compared to the sun thing. He swallowed. "Is - the whole world like this?"

Severus was frowning over a new and elaborate drawing of the nose, complete with cell diagrams. The nose in the picture was enormous, hooked, crooked, pointed and enormous, even proportionally. The drawing itself was enormous, covering his entire desk, the end curling onto the floor. He hummed in satisfaction, considering it, as he considered each piece-in-progress, his master work. Nothing had spontaneously combusted yet, and he did not notice the strange light sneaking around his curtains.

He heard the grumblings and scratch of claws in the hall, and sighed in frustration at the imminent interruption to the creation of his masterpiece. The next stage was going to demonstrate much formation and the advantages born by the illustrious nose of his diagram over smaller, lesser noses.

Carefully he blotted his quill and its violent green ink, then ventured into the hall to face the latest disaster.

"Just what is going on out here, disturbing my industry? Will you lazy students never collect enough precision and diligence to keep ( ... )

"Hey, just the lady I wanted to see." To Bucky, there wasn't much point in discriminating between "male" and "female" in species that he wasn't interested in dating. "I need you to fix me. Except not like that." He unwrapped the towel, exposing the charred fur and rising blister on his back, just a few inches above the base of his tail. "It hurts. Also I'd like the fur back just the way it was. Oh," he added in an offhanded way, "the library might be on fire. I didn't do it."

"I'm not a lady, you ignorant feline. That's the flaw in cats. They don't think." He gets out the orange burn paste and begins to apply it, thinking that as surely as Michael will do his duty with Aguamenti, he himself must patch up this careless, disagreeable idiot. He will be down to the library ASAP, the books in the restricted section worth the lives of almost everyone in the school.

Mikami was already in - not the most stable frame of mind. This didn't help.

He'd be found frozen in a doorway, transfixed with horror at the sight of the thing. This could not be happening. He must finally have snapped.

He wished he could at least find comfort in that thought.

Igor was fuming and pacing the halls, one arm covered in bandages. There was that long-haired lawyer guy, Mikami, that was it, staring in absolute terror at something.
He waved one hand through Mikami's line of sight.

Mikami flinched, automatically throwing a hand up to protect his eyes from the suddenly appearing object, before he registered what it was. He lowered his arm again, staring down at Igor. "What...?"

"You just looked shocked." He looked at the bandages covering his own arm "I don't mind that things are exploding, but when I can't figure out why it annoys me. I spent weeks working on that thing!" Mostly talking to himself.

It was a sign of how furious he was that he was talking to a man who threatened him several times.

"And, um, what were you looking at?"
