Many people at Hogwarts resorted to the Astronomy Tower for purposes of solitary emo or clandestine rendezvous. Octavian actually went there to observe the heavens. Astronomy interested him immensely.
It wasn't every day that he saw a fully suited modern businessman sitting on the flagstones and smoking a cigarette.
"Hello," he said, to be polite, because the other fellow was here first.
Octavian supposed it was, technically, morning, though very early. He nodded. "I'm told tobacco causes a catarrh of the lungs," he said, conversationally.
"It does. But tobacco also soothes nerves, on some people anyway, so some people find the tradeoff acceptable." The puff Ofdensen took made it clear he was accepting that for now.
There was something absolutely invigorating about flying early in the morning, like right around the time the sun was coming up and slightly before. Yes, it figured that Megan was a morning person.
And the Hogwarts castle was such an incredibly awesome place to fly! It was almost like an obstacle course or something. And there was so much stuff that nobody ever saw, because unless you could fly (which witches and wizards could with brooms, but it wasn't at all the same, not when you could stretch out and fly under your own power) you'd miss the little statues in nooks or the carvings along the walls or the scrubby little plants that had grown up in cracks. Along with the sheer exhilaration that flying gave her, these little treasures were what Megan looked forward to on the mornings that she felt like zooming around

"Yep!" She fluttered down to a sitting position, crossing her ankles and folding her wings behind her. "Every chance I get. I'm Megan!" She held out a hand in case he was the kind who shook, because people in business suits tended to do that.
