Laura was already on her way down the corridor, or the cry wouldn't have fazed her at all. The list of people who've asked for her mercy and been refused it is longer than her arm. Nothing personal, you understand; it was just more financially feasible to silence them.

But the girl looks scared--monstrous, but hurt. And she thrives on monsters being her heavies, even if it's ususally just metaphorical.

'My dear, you look a mess,' she says in a soothing voice, making no move to help her and risk getting blood on her dress.

Oh, thank God. Megan wasn't going to wander until she collapsed and bled out. Except she was pretty sure that someone couldn't bleed to death through their nose, could they? Okay, scratch that. She wasn't going to wander until the bump on her head did her in. Or until she starved to death.

"There was a riot and somebody punched me in the face and I think I have a concussion and I think all my friends are in jail now and I don't know where I am except I know I'm in Hogwarts and I just bought this shirt and--" she gasped, aware that she was babbling. She'd gotten a little better about that this past year, except for times like these when she was still buzzing on adrenaline and fear. "And I think I'd really, really like to go to the hospital wing."

Laura listens to the tone more than anything, nodding sympathetically and holding out her hands beatifically.

'You certainly look as if you've been through the wars--I really think a nice sitdown would be the best thing for you, and you can tell me all about it.' Mother Goose does not suit Laura well. She looks positively drugged as she smiles slowly, and indicates a low-slung windowsill she can rest at.

Megan's eyes darted to the windowsill, down the hall, and then back to the woman. Something about her reminded Megan of Miss Frost, except not as blonde and pale. And hopefully not telepathic; she didn't know if she could deal with anybody digging around in her head right now.

"Okay," she said uncertainly, fluttering off the ground for a second before plopping down again. No, that was a very bad idea. She just got dizzier when she was off the ground. "Thanks? Oh, do you have a kleenex or something?" Her nose was starting to clot, and her mouth wasn't bleeding freely anymore either, but it was still very gross. She walked unsteadily to the windowsill and eased herself down, folding her wings behind her. The sun through the glass caught them at just the right angle to send pastel colored light refracting across the hallway, and she was once again grateful to avoid having them broken this time. "So, um... I'm Megan."

"Oh!" Peach cried out, hands going up to her mouth. "You're hurt!" She stepped forward to try to heal Megan with her rather limited healing ability."

Megan shied back, having been warned of some mysterious "she" who attacked her new friend Ms. de Winter's son. Not that this girl... woman... person looked terribly threatening to her, but Megan herself didn't look very threatening and she knew exactly what she was capable of. More or less. The Souldagger and the semi-fuge state she went into when she used it threw things out of whack, as did having yet another piece of her soul stolen away.

"Yeah," she said, trying not to sound freaked out. "Um, could you point me in the direction of the hospital wing? I think I'm going the right way but I've been walking for a little while."

"Oh! Oh yes, they'd be much better at trying to help you than I would! Here, let me help!" And Peach held out her arm to help Megan out.

Gaaaah... she edged back a little more and bumped her wings into the wall. "I, um... kind of don't want to be touched right now. Riot," she said, by way of explanation. "But I'd like the help."

So. Now on to figuring out if she was the "she". "So, um... dangerous world we live in, isn't it?"

The mun was sorely tempted to send in a predator...

But, a Maddie is much friendlier option.

While not really used to the wings thing since the mun can't think of another character with them that Maddie's met, the ear thing wasn't that weird...I mean, there's Ryuk and Kurama to go by for weirdness. Though, those might not be good comparisons as they both get off on harassing Maddie. Anyways, the mun rambles.

"Are...are you okay?" Maddie asked. "Maybe we should get you to the hospital wing? Or, there's supposed to be some kind of medicine seller around here..."

Had Megan known of Maddie's mun's tempting, she would express her extreme gratefulness to avoid yet another harmful person today. There really is a limit to how much ill-will someone can take in one day.

"Yes. No. Um." Megan closed her eyes and started to shake her head, but stopped at a particularly awful throb of pain. The adrenaline from the riot and from 'porting back was fading, leaving her feeling shaky and confused. "I would really, really appreciate help right now." And remembering the mysterioius, harmful "she," she asked, "You've never attacked anyone in a hallway, right?"

To hell with subtlety. She was tired.

The predator is in a bad mood from the chocolate plot...and the mun swears she'll never write a Southern Belle again.

"Attacked anyone in a hallway?" Maddie said. "No, absolutely not," she assured the girl. "What happened to you?" she asked gently. Maddie's seen the bad side of Hogwarts, or parts of it, at any rate.

"Good." Not that a simple "no" was a wonderful reassurance. Still, it was enough for now. "There was a riot in San Fransisco, and I got hit, and I came back here. And now I think I'm lost again. Stupid castle." She didn't mean it, not really. Hogwarts was, if nothing else, a really awesome castle. But the whole mysterious, magical, moving-staircases aspect of it was much less cool and much more annoying when you were looking for one specific place.

She wasn't going to cry. She wasn't going to cuss. She was an X-man, and she could handle getting punched in the head and being lost in a place she hadn't been back to in more than a year. She'd faced a lot worse than this.

Sage felt sadness and decided to play Good Samaritan.
She poked her head in, curious about the hurt, strange-looking (to Sage's mind very cool) girl.
"Aww, what's wrong?" she asked, while reaching out with her mind. Bad idea. Very bad idea.

"Oh shi-oh shi-oh shi!" She hated mobs! The girl needed to be taken to a doctor, but all Sage could do was shake and cry. Since her empathy worked both ways-her emotions could also influence others, this might be a bad thing.

Megan barely had enough time to see the source of the new voice and note that the girl's appearance wouldn't have been at all out of place at a Dazzler concert when it hit her. A wall of terror and panic and oh God it was like she was back there, no, like she was back on the street with the Hellfire Club kicking her and stomping on her wings and no, it was more like being back in Limbo and her soul was being ripped out again and it was like every emotional wall that Megan had slowly built up over the past two years was being ripped away. Pain or no, she flew backwards as fast as she could, hallucinogenic dust falling like rain from her wings until she hit the wall.

((...if that was too overly dramatic and OH NOEZ, let me know and I'll change it. My Pixie-muse is starting to get mad at me for making her angst so much over the past day :-P Also, feel free to not be in the path of the hallucinogenic dust, but if you so choose it tends to do things like make people see innocent happy things like teddy bears, bubbles, and unicorns :-P ( ... )

((Oh, that was just fine. :) Apologies for agnst causing!))

Sage got the wave on the rebound and..oh god. Those people. It made her angry, really and if she could just focus on the anger instead of the fear she'd be stronger...was that a purple chicken? Ok, now she had something to focus on besides the multiplying bad feelings.

"You know there's a purple chicken in here. It's laughing at me. The jerk!- or jerkette. All chickens are female, right? Otherwise they'd be called roosters." She wasn't terribly worried that she was hallucinating, since she was so loopy anyway. Things were a little bit weirder than usual, that was all.
"Oh!" she noticed Megan had hit the wall. "Dammit, I didn't mean to do that. It's ok now, I promise. Except for that blue noise smell."

((Ha, no problem. I get a kick out of torturing my chars.))

The wave of horrible emotions dropped away suddenly, and Megan became aware of the dust coming off of her. "Eep!" She dropped back to the ground with a thud and winced, still keeping far back from the girl, who didn't look that weird compared to some of her friends from the Institute.

"I'm sorry, I do that sometimes when I get scared." She edged a little closer, curious. "You're seeing chickens?"

She always had wondered what her dust made people see.

The transformation potion had worn off and he was still nauseous, not to mention hung-over from the wedding reception. He was glad he'd looked in, though. The girl needed help.

"...I work at the hospital wing, you know." He spoke softly, trying not to hurt his head further.

"You do?!" Megan smiled widely with relief, somewhat lighting up her bruised, blood-streaked face. "Please, please, please say you know where it is right now. I don't know if it keeps moving or if I hit my head worse than I thought or if I'm just plain lost, but I keep thinking I've found it and nope, it's gone, and--" Deep breath, and she continued. "And I'd really like some asprin or something right now." Or Vicodin. And maybe the opportunity to sleep for a week.

Ok I am totally confused- I see now that Peach has already guided Megan to the hospital. Are we going to play this without worrying about continuity? (that's the way I always do it anyway.)

Igor stepped closer cautiously. He was worried. Head injuries could be really nasty. "It can be hard to find, but I've always been able to trace it." He rooted in his pockets "I'm sorry I don't have any asprin, I could use some myself too. I can be your guide if you like. But first, can you tell me how many fingers I'm holding up?" He held up three and stared at her quizzically.

((Yeah, I figure it's best to do that. I've been trying to rationalize it as "time/space is funky here" and not worry about it :-P Since she's now finally met an official hospital wing worker, continuity is official here!))

"Three," she said, glad that double vision wasn't one of the things she'd been regularly experiencing. At least, not since she'd originally blacked out after hitting her head, and it hadn't lasted long.

"Are you okay?" she asked, suddenly concerned. "Did you hit your head, too? I don't see any bruises or anything but I've been watching the news a lot lately and it seems like people get hit all the time and they don't notice but then they die and it's just out of nowhere. Oh, and I'd really appreciate you showing me where the hospital wing is. Do you know if Hufflepuff still has that... what'd they call it... 'food libraries'?" In addition to painkillers and sleep, Megan felt that she deserved ice cream. Soy chocolate ice cream.
