After getting L to apologize to those he'd wronged, Matt took L back up to their room.

After shutting and warding their door, Matt peeled off his gloves and goggles, stroking L's face and kissing his cheeks.

"There, there, my love, it's all over, it's all over."

L leaned into Matt's touch, wrapping his arms loosely about him. He was exhausted, drained from the day. He closed his eyes. "You believe me now?" he asked.

L caressed Matt's head, playing with his hair. "I love you, too," he whispered back. "Everything about you," he added. That Matt would still turn to him made the ache he'd been feeling ease a little.

Matt laughed. "Everything about you too. Except your pointy elbows." He smiled though, to show he was joking.

L pressed his thumb to the corner of Matt's mouth. "I shall try to keep them from your stomach," he said seriously.

Matt smiled at L some more and then playfully licked at L's thumb.

L watched Matt curiously then brought Matt's hand up to his mouth, pressing the thumb to his lips. After a moment, the other corner of his mouth quirked and he licked Matt's thumb as well.

Matt giggled. "Look at us. We're just a couple of cats."

L considered that a moment and then moved Matt's hand so he could lick along the palm and then sucked in his first two fingers, keeping eyecontact with Matt the whole time.

Matt's eyes narrowed slightly and his nostrils flared. If L was trying to turn him on, it's working.

L's intent was simply to enjoy the taste of Matt's skin. He liked it. The taste of skin and leather and knowing that he was the only one to have the privilage of touching Matt's skin, was something that help soothed his mind. That Matt found it a turn on was a bonus. He worked his tongue against Matt's fingers.

Matt closed his eyes for a few minutes, before opening them again. Reaching for L's own hand, he began to reciprocate.

L sighed around Matt's fingers, the tension of the day slowly ebbing away under the attention. He watched Matt intently, enjoying the expressions that crossed his face free of the goggles he normally wore.

"My L," Matt whispered. "My one and only." He licked slowly across L's hand.

L reluctantly let Matt's fingers out of his mouth with a pop. "That," he said, dropping a kiss in the middle of Matt's palm, "means more than being anyone else's." Each touch, each word, everything about this was soothing away the hurt. He still had what was most important to him. He could work out the rest.

"I'd rather die again than lose you."

Matt's arms slid around L, holding him close. He leaned in for a more proper kiss.

L would have said something, but the kissing was much more important then. He ran his fingers through Matt's hair, enjoying the texture, though normally it would have been too much. With Matt, things just felt right, not too much, not too anything. He could touch Matt fully and comfortably. Later, when he was less preoccupied, he might figure out why, though he suspected he already knew.
