[Application:] Magdalene "Blind Mag" Defoe from Repo! The Genetic Opera

May 29, 2009 00:07

A pale, elegant woman in black walked across the floor of the sorting room. Her heels clacked on the stone and the sound echoed off the walls. Feathery eyelashes framed wide, artificial eyes. The iris focused in and out like a camera lens as she took in her surroundings, mouth agape. She lowered her hood and stopped in the center of the room ( Read more... )

"Hey! You have weird eyes! And I don't think they're shinigami eyes either!"

Mag blinked a few times and looked at the creature in front of her. Somehow it reminded her of Pavi. She frowned slightly. "I had surgery," she explained. "What is a 'shinigami'? Are you one?" It was a pretty good guess, she thought, since she's never seen anything quite like him before.

"Yep!" Ryuk grinned. "Name's Ryuk!"

She eyed Ryuk for a little longer before introducing herself. "Blind Mag," she offered him her stage name. "But most people just call me 'Mag'."

"That...isn't a question one would want to answer."

It took Mag a moment to get what he was talking about. Once she understood, her eyes widened and her pupils dilated, giving her the look of a terrified owl. "You have died before?" She couldn't help but ask; it shocked her.

He nodded. "I have."

Mag frowned and bit the inside of her bottom lip. She had no idea if she really believed him or what to say if it was true. She thought it best to err on the side of caution, though, and didn't voice her doubts.

"I'm sorry," she clasped her hands in front of her. "I did not think I'd ever meet someone who could answer. I won't ask you the question," she added. Even if knowing could help her, she didn't want to cause him any grief.

"You can sing?" Sunflora smiled. "I can dance!"

Mag stared at Sunflora for a moment. A talking flower? It seemed sweet though.

"Can you?" She knelt in front of Sunflora to speak with her.

"Yes! See?" Sunflora demonstrated her dancing skills. "I could even make petals dance with me! But that always confuses me, and I end up attacking the wrong Pokemon," Sunflora added with a frown.

Mag smiled softly. The little flower creature was rather endearing. "What is a Pokemon?" she asked after Sunflora's dance was finished.

She almost smiled at the young woman. "Which part?" she asked, tilting her head.

"Dressing my hair!" Peach said with a smile.

Mag did smile now and reached her hands out in front of her. "I would be happy to dress your hair for you. What is your name?"

"Oh! I would love to see what you would do with my hair!" bubbled Amaranth. "I'll vote you anywhere you like, and maybe after you're sorted I could do your nails!" For once, Amaranth was actually talking about actual hair and nailcare, not making elaborate double entendres.

Mag wasn't from a conservative society, far from it. But she found herself a little uncomfortable when a naked woman bounded up to her and started talking so excitedly about nails and hair. But ever flexible in strange situations, she avoided most of her uneasiness by locking eyes with Amaranth.

"That sounds pleasant...where is your clothing?" She asked more out of confusion than curiosity. This girl seemed so nice, too nice to be like the 'women' Mag knew. She had no idea why the girl would be walking around naked then, but it didn't seem quite appropriate for...for wherever it is she was.

"Oh, I'm a nymph," Amaranth explained. "It's against my religion to hide my body behind clothes. I promise I'm perfectly clean, though."

"You're a nymph?" Mag asked, astonished. She took a step towards Amaranth, with child-like curiosity. "A real one? Where are you from?"

Since forgoing clothing was part of her religion, Amaranth's nudity was no longer an issue.
