Mikami arrived at Light's room about ten minutes later, carrying a stack of books, most of which had scraps of paper sticking out of them. He bowed his head, closing the door behind him. "My God. I - I am sorry that this took me so long."

It's better that Mikami feel sorry for himself than him being suspicious as to why his God hasn't been doing anything at all. So Light starts with the point of this visit, "What have you found?"

There is a desk in this room where Mikami can put the stack of books on.

He puts them down, going to one knee beside the desk.

"It - may be hard to explain. Have you ever used a Pensieve?"
