Mikami is on his way back to his room, carrying a book on Memory Charms. He nearly drops it when he sees Light. The radio disaster is still vivid in his mind.

"I - I should tell you," he says, trying to cover his fright, "Matt is no longer popcorn. I met him earlier."

"Do you know how much Matt remembers?" Light is curious because he knew Matt and L were together.

He doesn't look angry or anything so Mikami should see that even though Light didn't reply to that owl, he isn't angry at Mikami. Though he could be annoyed at Ryuk.

"He remembers having been here, but he didn't know me. I don't know how much he retained, exactly. And he knows nothing of what happened while he was popcorn, which is - logical, since he died."

"From what I know, being popcorn is like being nothing. Of course you would still exist back in your own world, but there is nothing to the popcorn state. So it is understandable why memory loss is common for those that have gone," because popcorn doesn't think, it has no brain to store the memories that the person collected since appearing in Hogwarts. That anyone would remember anything, that they wouldn't have known in their sorting, after coming out of that state is surprising.

Or maybe that's just Light's logic and that's not how popcorning works at all. It is a mystery~

Sunflora smelled fruit! And it smelled delicious!

But Sunflora wasn't just going to steal Light's food, that was mean.

Sunflora climbed up the bench so she was a few feet down from Light.

"Can I have some fruit?"

A talking sunflower? But Light had an argument with a potatochip... a talking sparklechip, so it's not like Sunflora is the strangest thing he's spoken with.

"Sure," Light pushes the bowl closer to her and takes a green apple for himself.

Sunflora picks up some grapes and begins eating them one by one. "I'm Sunflora." Chomp. Chomp. "Fruit tastes so much better than some of the stuff you humans eat."

Yes, she's been tasting food, why do you ask?

Light takes a bite of the apple while Sunflora is talking.

"What have you tried that you didn't like? And I'm Light."
