Monsters and dinosaurs and trilobiotes, oh my! ((Open))

Sep 25, 2008 20:58

Alan Grant had been so caught up in Chance Silvey's nightmares that he'd left the door open to his own. Gasping for breath, he thrashed against an invisible monster before realizing that he was fighting against his own blankets. There was nothing else in the room with him ( Read more... )

Turlough was just out for some coffee as well. Insomnia had caught up to him, and two in the morning was not the best time to tend to groundskeeping duties.

"Good evening," Grant said o him. I was an understatement. "Good late-ass night," would have been better.

"More like good early morning. Good to know I'm not the only one who can't sleep. Turlough."

"Grant." He didn't bother holding out a hand. "A full night of sleep is overrated."

Dr. Hook was awake at all hours. More precisely, he didn't have a regular schedule, and slept when the mood took him for a few hours, remained awake the rest of the time.

He enjoyed coffee and conversation. Coffee was always to be had in the Great Hall. Conversation was not. Hook often didn't see many people about when he was awake and outside the Hospital Wing.

"Hej. Mind if I join you?"

"No." It was why he was out here. Grant grabbed his own cup of coffee. "I can't guarantee that it will be worth your time until after I've finished this," he said, indicating the beverage.

Hook chuckled. "Ah, coffee. It's among the less harmful of vices. I haven't kicked the habit even after the incident that brought me here."

"Oh?" It sounded like an interesting story. "Not death by coffee, I hope."

Certain things had been happening in the swedenborgian space of Hogwarts as of late. Vertain things that made Antubis slowly more aware of why he was here. And what he had to do. Following one of these whims took him to the great hall, where he saw one hero was sure he needed, and another that he might.

He walked up to the latter, Grant, and sniffed the air around him with his long anteater nose. "Dinosaurs, eh?" he muttered seemingly to himself, before actually addressing him directly. "You look like someone forgot to wish you sweet dreams before bed, Ringo."

Despite living at Hogwarts for the last two and a half years, some things still threw Grant for a loop. Being addressed by an animal that looked like it could kill him was one of them, but maybe that was just a few bad experiences talking. The size made him think of a giant sloth, being the fossil geek that he was. The last time he'd seen teeth in a snout like that, they'd been trying to eat him.

So maybe he might be excused for taking a few seconds longer than usual to come up with a reply. "Pretty much," he said. Snappy response to the anteater.

((Having spoken w/ Antubis-mun, I throw Hook into the thread for a grand posting order of Antubis-Grant-Hook. Dr. Krøgshøj if you're nasty. o/~ ))

"Hej, Antubis," said Hook to the anteater, grinning. "What, he gets called Ringo? Not Wesley? I'm jealous."

Antubis nodded at Hook, then took a seat on the floor between the two of them. Chairs didn't exactly accomodate him.

He flashed Hook a smile that could only be described as menacing. "I know you're a Герой, Hook. I don't know about this one. His time smells seriously racked up."
