Jack Harkness was supposed to be teaching the class, if anyone knew who he was they'd be in for a bit of a shock because Jack wasn't going to be actually taking his first lesson. Nope. Defense Against the Dark Arts was actually the kind of class Brienne would regularly have attended, had classes been something people did regularly in the first place. After all, combative magics would prove useful, if she could get them to work back home.

She'd listened to the lecture raptly. She hadn't taken notes, but she'd hung on the professor's every word. And, the pixies having been released, she stood up, scowling in fierce concentration (a look that did not do her appearance any particular favors), and set to stunning pixies. This required her to tune out the rest of the people in the class, which was good because some of them did not seem to be much interested in actual studying. To her surprise, she was actually good at this activity, and within a few moments she actually began to enjoy herself.

"Good. I'm glad you found what you were looking for," Brienne offered. She wished she could think of something else clever to say on the subject, but she couldn't, so instead she focused her attention on stunning that same pixie, who was apparently back for round two. When that crisis was passed, she turned back to Simon. "Um, you might want to visit the village at some point," she said. "And there are a few things I need to get myself. We could go sometime, if you were interested." Actually, the bit about her needing things from the village wasn't precisely true. Mostly the house elves had supplied what few needs she had, but she didn't want him to feel like she was humoring him or hovering too much.

"I wouldn't want to impose," he said, being honest, "but that'd really be great. I could pick up a wand and maybe some things for my sister..."

"No no," Brienne made haste to reassure. "It's not an imposition at all. I think it could be fun. We could go in about a week so you could figure out what else you needed, perhaps?"
