Just a quick stretch (Open)

Vanyel had finally decided he was probably ok letting Tylendel out of his sight for longer than it took to go to the bathroom, and had wandered off to sit in the Gryffindor commons.  After all, he reasoned, he'd see him if he headed outof the room they'd been sharing.  He pulled out the copy of Hogwarts: A History that he'd checked out, and began ( Read more... )

He knew where Vanyel was, the same way he'd always been able to tell where Sayvil lurked. It was an odd and comforting feeling, and even with the wards Kusuriyuri had given him, the bond was strong enough to form a kind of tether both to his sanity and his calm.

So it was without haste or fear that he moved around this new room, examining the area, putting on clothes that were fresh and had been laid out for him. Where they had come from, he did not know, and they were strange, but not uncomfortable.

That done, he ambled down to where he knew Vanyel to be, once again marvelling at the sumptuous surroundings. He approached Van and planted a kiss on his cheek before taking a chair opposite.
"Ashke, good morning."

"Morning," he said softly. "I was just trying to read about the history of this place, and didn't want to wake you up." He smiled at Tylendel. "Besides, you couldn't go anywhere without almost tripping on me."

He laughed easily, reclinging back and playing with one of the throw pillows.

"I think I'd rather watch you sleep than explore, but this place is fascinating. And the people here are interesting as well."

"Who said anything about exploring?" he asked. "I took a few long walks before you got here, trying to get my endurance back. This was just reading, because I figure eventually I ought to know something about the place." He smiled at Tylendel.

"I'm glad you weren't upset that I'd left the room," he said, watching 'Lendel's face.

Oh hey, it was Vanyel, and he looked significantly less ragged than when Billy had seen him the last time.

"Arms doing better?" he asked.

He nodded. "All better, now. How're you?"

Billy shrugged. "Not bad. I've been chasing things around the castle. It's a definite plus from when they're chasing me."

"What sorts of things?" Vanyel asked, mildly curious.

The Chairman had his usual newspapers (Tokyo, London, wizarding world) and was also reading them in the common room. He peeked over the top of the paper to see Vanyel reading, smiled, then returned to it.

Vanyel looked over to notice someone else reading, and shrugged, going back to his book.

"Pleasant read?" he couldn't help but ask.

"Knowledge is power," he said. "And at the moment, I know very little of this place."

((OOC: I know this is days old, but I hope you'll indulge me, since having
a Vanyel at Hogwarts was one of the major things that brought me out of lurkdom. :)))

Brienne had wandered into the common room at some point, and her eye was drawn to the pretty young man who sat reading. He was good-looking in the unconscious way that Renly Baratheon had been, although it was hard to imagine Renly actually doing something as mundane as reading. Anyway, this stranger was dressed in fashions similar to those she had seen on the nobility back home, and he seemed relatively ordinary by Hogwarts standards.

"Hello," she said quietly, offering a brief smile as she pulled out a chair and sank into it. "I hope you don't mind if I join you."

He smiled shyly and shrugged. "S'fine." He was a little nervous at this, since he wasn't terribly comfortable with girls. "I'm Vanyel," he said, offering her a slight bow.

Brienne wasn't all that comfortable with men, either, so had she been privy to his thoughts she probably would have noted they were even. In any case, she responded with a slight bow of her own, not ever having managed to master the art of the graceful curtsy and not, today, feeling the need to humiliate herself about it.

"I'm Brienne of Tarth. Well met, Ser Vanyel," she said. "Have you been at Hogwarts long?"

He shook his head. "A couple of weeks, assuming time's the same here. You?" he asked. He was slightly less intimidated, since this seemed to be along the lines of a normal conversation.
