Vanyel came flying through the halls and into the sorting room at a dead run. He'd felt, well, he'd felt something that felt like 'Lendel, and he had to know what was going on. And he'd heard that some of the people here had died, first. Hell, he might've died first himself.

As he came into the room, he suddenly came to a full stop a couple of feet from Tylendel. His face was a sickly paper white, and his jaw had dropped. " 'Lendel?" he managed to ask, his voice faint in shock. One shaky hand was reaching out towards the other boy, stopping just short of touching him.

"It's a school," he said. "For Magic." Vanyel sighed. "There are a lot of strange things, and people here."

One hand cupping 'Lendel's cheek. "They say people can't die here. Which is odd."

"Like the collegium, only with more... fish people," he said, remembering 'Ryuk' and shivering. Not a bad thing then, it seemed. And the magic here was so strong, he doubted that an Adept would have any trouble casting great magics any time they wanted.

He rested his hand over Vanyel's, pushing into the touch. "That's interesting. So that means I can do all the stupid, boneheaded things that you and Savil tell me not to do without consequence?" He waggled his eyebrows at Van, eyes glittering with humor.

"No!" "Please no, no more of that, Lendel. I... not again." Vanyel was shaking slightly.

He pulled Vanyel back into his arms, holding him tight. "I'm sorry Van, I don't mean to tease you. Please, don't tremble so!" He kissed the top of Vanyel's head, still confused, his head starting to spin again. "Whatever it was, forgive me. It must have been something I did, please forgive me," he squeezed Vanyel tight, and his vision went blurry for a moment, the warm colors of the room turning into fire. He pushed it away, shutting his eyes, holding Van.

"Shh," he said, pulling his head up to kiss Lendel. "I'm not mad, it's not your fault," he said. "You're with me, and that's what matters.

Vanyel took several deep breaths. He was going to have to be the strong one here. It was obvious that Tylendel was blocking out everything, just like he'd tried to do himself.

"Just, just saty with me for a while, that's all I ask."

"Of course," he murmured, returning the kiss. "I would never leave you, Van. Not by my own volition."
It felt good to be near him, though. That openness and connection was even stronger than before.

He smiled.
"You remember what you said before about sharing thoughts with me?"

He took several deep breaths, but he couldn't stop the tears that slid down his face at this statement.

"No," he said softly. "I don't remember that."

He reached up to brush the tears away, a frown momentarily appearing on his features before smoothing.
"You have the gift, Van. I don't know how, perhaps it's this place, or the magic here, but you have it. I know it hurts you, but... perhaps, when you feel better," he trailed off, resting his hands on Vanyel's face.

"When you feel better, I could teach you about mindspeak, like what Gala and I have..."

Gala, where is Gala, she should be here, laughing along with me, where is Gala-
His head was spinning again, he gripped Vanyel's shoulders.
"I think... I need to sit..."

Oh, this is getting ugly, he thought to himself. He lowered Tylendel to the ground gently, and leaned against the wall himself, pulling Tylendel into his arms. "It'll be ok, Lendel. We can worry about all that later." He ran one hand soothingly through Tylendel's hair, the other holding his lover close.

"But, I'm worried now.' He moaned, burying his face in Vanyel's shoulder. "Where is Gala, Van? Did she stay behind? She couldn't have..."

He moved his arms around to hold Tylendel to him. "She's gone, Lendel," he said softly.

He stopped, and was surprised to discover he had actually become dizzy from shock. He sat up and pulled away from Vanyel just the slightest, staring at him with disbelieving eyes.

"What do you mean, gone?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Vanyels eyes widened, as his grip on Tylendel got firmer, pulling him close again. "She, well, she's gone. To protect people, Lendel."

"But... without me? I... shouldn't she have told me first?" He struggled a little in Van's grip. He wouldn't leave, it was just... he'd like to sit up in a comfortable position for a bit. But Gala leaving... that was so strange.

"No time," he said, glossing over the truth.

She'd repudiated Tylendel at a volume everyone could hear, but now was not the time. He let his grip loosen a bit, so that Tylendel could settle himself, but still watched his lover warily.
