As he came into the room, he suddenly came to a full stop a couple of feet from Tylendel. His face was a sickly paper white, and his jaw had dropped. " 'Lendel?" he managed to ask, his voice faint in shock. One shaky hand was reaching out towards the other boy, stopping just short of touching him.

One hand cupping 'Lendel's cheek. "They say people can't die here. Which is odd."

He rested his hand over Vanyel's, pushing into the touch. "That's interesting. So that means I can do all the stupid, boneheaded things that you and Savil tell me not to do without consequence?" He waggled his eyebrows at Van, eyes glittering with humor.

Vanyel took several deep breaths. He was going to have to be the strong one here. It was obvious that Tylendel was blocking out everything, just like he'd tried to do himself.
"Just, just saty with me for a while, that's all I ask."

It felt good to be near him, though. That openness and connection was even stronger than before.
He smiled.
"You remember what you said before about sharing thoughts with me?"

"You have the gift, Van. I don't know how, perhaps it's this place, or the magic here, but you have it. I know it hurts you, but... perhaps, when you feel better," he trailed off, resting his hands on Vanyel's face.
"When you feel better, I could teach you about mindspeak, like what Gala and I have..."
Gala, where is Gala, she should be here, laughing along with me, where is Gala-
His head was spinning again, he gripped Vanyel's shoulders.
"I think... I need to sit..."

She'd repudiated Tylendel at a volume everyone could hear, but now was not the time. He let his grip loosen a bit, so that Tylendel could settle himself, but still watched his lover warily.
