::Open RP: Kitten-Smitten::

[i_am_an_hero]

While A, as a general rule, is content to stay in his room, Schrodinger is a growing kitten, and always eager to explore and play. A's room is small, and even a tiny kitten seems to need space, so A has taken her to the Great Hall, where there is space for her to frolic

Matt actually pushes one side of his goggles upwards, peering at the kitten with an uncovered eye.

"Has it gotten bigger already? Is that even possible?"

"Hexes?" He's careful about exhaling, out of courtesy. "What kind?"

"Ones that will keep me safe," he whispers.

[gamerspy]

Matt blinks.

"Things at Wammy's were pretty messed-up for you, huh."

[i_am_an_hero]

"You mean... where I was, before?"

He never knew it had a name. It was just what was.

"He says they should have been kinder."

[gamerspy]

Matt guesses that 'he' is L; there's something reverent A's tone whenever he says it.

"Yeah. And from what you've said, I'd agree." He pauses to flick ash onto the stone floor, considering his next words. "... look, A, I'm not prying or anything, but... you know there are people who'll help you out, right? If you need it."

"What do you mean?" A's not sure what to make of that. Being 'helped' is, apart from L, an alien concept to him.

Matt rubs his head.

"You said you wanted to learn spells to keep you safe, right?"

A nodded. "So... so no one can try to hurt me." His neck twinges at the memory.

Hurt him? Was that just paranoia, or...? Matt stops himself from frowning, keeping his face blank.

"L doesn't want anybody to hurt you. You know that, right? And neither do I."

"Oh, I know." The mention of L makes him smile. "He wants me to learn hexes."

Schrodinger, apparently not satisfied with her half-finished job on Matt's gloves, comes and starts nipping at his fingers again.

"Yeah," he says, starting a very gentle tug-of-war with the kitten. "It's a good idea. Have you learned any so far?"

"Not any hexes, not yet," he admits. "But I can levitate small things."

"Is it hard? I've not tried yet."

[i_am_an_hero]

"It was easy. The feather was easy. The rock was a little harder, but that might be because I did that first."

[gamerspy]

"Feather then rock. Got it. You seem a lot more chilled-out since your Sorting," he adds.
