Shaun and Liz had been spending a disgusting amount of time together, exploring the castle and wandering around Hogsmeade. Today they'd decided it was time to go collect Susan--a Susan who seemed much happier with that Charles bloke around, and who was quite willing to go for a walk in the snow.
What none of them had counted on was a barrage of snowballs. Seemingly out of the blue, one smacked Shaun square in the face, while another exploded when it hit Susan's hair, which coiled angrily and tried to shake the snowflakes out. Her eyes narrowed as she hunted for the source of the thing, while Liz--who was trying not to laugh, and failing utterly--wiped at Shaun's now-frozen face with the end of her scarf.
"Somebody's gonna pay for that," he spluttered, blinking. "Dunno who, but they'll pay."
"That would be me," Susan said, flinging another one with a glee no former governess should be capable of. Provoking Richard might not be Jaime's idea of fun, but Susan was certainly enjoying it.
Liz, quite happy to stay out of Richard's way, instead focused on Tomo. Part of her felt absolutely rotten at the idea of ambushing a teenage girl, and as a result her snowball wasn't thrown nearly as hard as it might have been.
Shaun, meanwhile, found himself suddenly pelted with all the snowballs that had until then been suspended in midair. Nothing daunted, thwacking at them with his bat, he charged at the barricade. And, as Liz had suspected, he was indeed pretending he was in Platoon.
Jaime threw another one at the same time. Richard dodged it, but in doing so, took Susan's snowball in the face. Instead of wiping it off, though, an aura of fire magic surrounded him, melting the snow off his face (as well as all the snow he was standing on). "Thank you for the clarification," he said, and threw two fireballs - each the size of a softball - back at each of them in turn. Jaime ducked and threw up an arm to protect himself, the armor forming over it as he did to block the fireball.
"HA!" As Shaun charged, Tomo reached down for another snowball, and her gloved hand grasped empty air. "Hey, wait a--" As she turned, Liz's snowball hit her smack in the face. "AUGH! Sneak attack!" Flailing, she wiped her face off, grabbed a handful of snow and pitched it in the general direction of Liz. "You were supposed to warn me about that!"
Richard glanced down at her in irritation. "Warn you? What are you talking about? I've never seen you before in my life."
