A tall, statuesque woman, so blonde her hair looked to be nearly white and dressed in elegant looking black pants and an equally flattering black halter top, appeared in the Sorting Room. She didn't look confused or disoriented, and she moved with grace and purpose to the table holding the application. She picked up the application and skimmed

"You don't think God forgives sins?"

Gaius wandered in and rolled his eyes at her again. She kept her pleasant semi-smile on her face and her eyes fixed on the girl.

"Yes, it does," she said, as much to the girl as to Gaius. Her smile turned sad. "You try to do the lesser of two evils and hope that it's all part of God's plan."
She heard a scoff from behind her, as Gaius had begun to circle. "'God's plan.' You say that like it means something, like you believe it."
"He works in mysterious ways," she said stubbornly.

Jaime studied the applicant for a moment uncertainly. The application was one thing, but - he knew that scowl, knew the look of someone who was studiously ignoring something annoying. She was the only one there as far as he could tell, but... the scarab was good at hiding too.
"Created specifically to be useful?" he asked, politely but still wary. "Useful to who?"

"To my people. To God." She shook her head, smiling sadly. "Mostly to my people."
Gaius was suddenly by her side, giving the boy a suspicious glare. "Stay on your guard around this one," he hissed into her ear.

Even though Jaime couldn't hear Gaius, he wasn't entirely comforted; while she didn't seem to be putting on an act, the scarab was telling him that she wasn't quite human. Not like that wasn't uncommon around here, but still... He made a face and pointedly ignored the scarab. "What's the difference?" he asked. "Between being useful to God and to your people." People's definition of "God's will," in his experience, tended to seriously differ.

"Except most of the time, Cylons can come back from it," came the grumble from behind her.

He paused, quirked an eyebrow. "I was raised to be a soldier. Most of my fellow Peacekeepers were quite literally born into the service, and I envied them that. We killed many, many other beings in combat, for no better reason than that those were our orders. By your lights, does that make us murderers?"

Cue the sound of a lone person clapping slowly, unheard by anyone but Caprica.

"Sixes," he mused, looking over the application. "As in cards or as in dice? You could call it 'Boxcars' instead. Double sixes."
No hobo references intended, Scout's honor.

That was a gap in knowledge he'd like to rectify. That's what SHE said.
"Tell me more," he suggested amiably.

Caprica's face stayed pleasant despite that stinging remark. "Among the Cylons those with my particular set of abilities were dubbed 'Sixes.' Thus I'm known as 'Caprica Six.'"
It really was true, from a certain point of view. She just didn't say that all the other Sixes were near-exact likenesses of her, all made from the same template.

Until he got to 'polygamous'. Hi. And then the application was over. When did that happen? Oh well.
"I'm Ron!" He was Ron.

She once again ignored him and smiled at Ron. "Hi. I'm Caprica."

"So. You probably want a House, right? Got any leanings...? Towards Houses."

Gaius wandered back over, a martini glass in hand and a look of supreme amusement on his face. "Oh, is that all you're going to tell him? Boys his age dream of talking to someone who looks like you. Have a heart. Oh wait, I forgot, you're a machine. No heart to be found."
She wasn't quite able to hide the look of sudden hurt from showing on her face, though she covered it up quickly. "Could you tell me more about them? About Hogwarts?"
