Finally recovered from his Milk Chocolate ordeal, a bedraggled and dispirited Nebulon blibbled into the Gryffindor Common Room, even though he was a Tootsitramp. He was hoping to find his fiancé Archie Kennedy, whom he had a vague idea might be a Gryffindor. He needed sweet solace. No, not sweet solace, nothing sweet; he'd had enough of sweets in Hershey, PA, No, what he needed was salty solace.
He emerged into what seemed to be some kind of happening dance party! It enlivened him a little, and he slithered into the middle of the dance floor, waggling his stubby green tail.
Okay, the noise? That catches curiosity, and that makes Archie a cat. Or something. Anyway, Archie could hear music coming from downstairs, so he went down to see.
"Oh, hi Neb! I was looking for you. So, you're ready for me to come live with you?" Archie thinks that was what Neb was trying to say. But really, he's having fun trying to figure out what Nebulon's saying.
What an octopus was doing in the Gryffindor Common Room was not anyone's business. What he was doing to the food, however, was.
"Do you call this seasoning?" Tako asked a random house elf. "My mother could season better than this, and she thinks spice is what happens when she buys new lingerie!" Truth be told, octopus knickers were cute, but the suspenders and stockings were an absolute bitch.
Tako grabbed a salt shaker and started sprinkling a dish. Without a second's hesitation, he picked up a spoon and shoved a mouthful of food down his throat.
"Now that's how it's supposed to taste," he said around a big gob of food.
(( With approval of Henry-mun, for labor-saving purposes.))
Neither Camilla nor Henry had seen any fliers about a party. To be more precise, Camilla had not read any fliers about a party; she might well have flitted right by one without stopping to see what it said. Henry could also be rather single-minded, and had much less interest in school events than Camilla.
Neither of them expected to find a party when they wandered down to the common room, Henry with some book in an alphabet Camilla didn't know, Camilla hoping to find someone's spare copy of the Daily Prophet.
But once Camilla saw that there was a party, she was curious and wanted to stay a little while. She couldn't have said why Henry stayed with her. The look on his face might have been resignation, or patience, or just boredom
( ... )
Henry, who didn't particularly want to be at the party but would suffer through it momentarily for Camilla's sake, nodded. "I'm inclined to think 'person of historical interest'," he said, mainly because he couldn't imagine anyone picking a coat like that for a costume if there were any other options available. "I think I might inquire."
It was then that he noticed Shaun. Henry had never actually met Shaun before, but he'd heard stories, and couldn't imagine that there could be two cricket-bat-wielding men wandering about, even at Hogwarts. "I think that's Susan's friend," he said, as he moved past one of the food tables--he too knew better than to eat anything left out for common consumption. "I may leave you to it."
Shaun, who often patrolled the school for zombies when he didn't have anything better to do, was also scouting out the various common rooms so he'd know what to warn tell Liz about when she arrived. The crazy sensitive hearing he'd acquired from Susan meant he heard Henry's remark, and he grinned as Henry moved away
( ... )
Camilla would have known Shaun even without the cricket bat. With the cricket bat, he presented a slightly alarming spectacle. "Yes, I'm a Gryffindor. What brings you here? Not zombies, I hope?"
"Nah, not zombies," he said. "My girlfriend's coming here pretty soon, and I thought I'd kind of look around, see just what all the Houses were like, in case she winds up somewhere other than Hufflepuff. She's already heard a few stories, so Hogwarts won't come as a total shock." He paused. "I hope, anyway. Susan talked her into it, and Susan's a pretty good indicator of just how weird things can be here." He didn't mean it in a mean way at all; Susan was his friend, but she was definitely a little bizarre, and she and Liz had got on fine.

"Ooh, food."

"Our house is a very, very, very fine house
With two cats in the yard
Life used to be so hard
Now everything is easy
'Cause of you",
he sang. It was some kind of weird figurative reference to Tootsitramp dorm. Very figurative, because Nebulon didn't own any cats.
