[Open RP] Phoenix messes up. Again

Jul 08, 2007 22:48

The intent was to produce a bouquet of roses. Instead, Phoenix produced ragweed. Which gives him hay fever. Which makes him sneeze uncontrollably.

So off he goes to the hospital wing, hoping for an antidote.

It's another bright, sunny day at Hogwarts, which naturally means that Dr. Cox is occupying his own little corner of black rage and death wishes. The Secrets Board, in particular certain
conversations therein, have put him into a pretty angry mood.

As a result, he's not exactly as kind and cheerful with Phoenix as he might otherwise be. "What is it?" he snaps as soon as the man enters the Wing. "Come on, I don't got all day."

Yeah it was. "I know," Cox replied a little smugly. And she thought she had him all figured out. Yeah, right. She had nooooo idea what she was missing. "I~ even trained him to deliver my mail and let me tell you, he's a damn sight better than these stupid owls." He waved a hand at the air. "I mean, he doesn't get to come in here, but outside of this place?" He grinned and snorted softly. "Please. He can get from one end of the castle to the other in about a minute flat. Y'i~t's... pretty much amazing."

"You could see him, you know, i~f you wanted to," he went on quickly, before she could voice her (completely justified) skepticism. "If you'd, y'know, write to me or something."

You know, you knew someone for mahmahur eight years or so and you think you understand them. But then they go off to magic school and get a pony and start being friends with girls they'd dated and all that just went to crap. "And why would I want to write you?" Carla asked, her eyebrow edging up in amusement. "Fictitious pony mail or not."

No, really. Give her a reason.

HA. And he was in! His eyes lit up, although he tried to keep his face relatively neutral as he dove in for the kill leaned in. "Well, if you wrote me and told me where you're staying, I~~~ could pick you up there tomorrow night and we could get outta this dump and go somewhere decent to eat?"

He thought that was a pretty damn fine reason, actually.

A grin cocked up one side of her mouth, but otherwise Carla remained impassive. Giving up on making the potion - she probably would have killed herself and others - Carla turned to face him. For a long moment she studied his face, almost as if looking for an excuse.

Well, it was just a meal. With Dr. Cox, for God's sake. They'd known each other for too long - how many times had she had lunch or dinner with him? Granted, most of it had been in the hospital cafeteria, but they'd hung out in the bar or played pool or whatever a hundred times over the years. No big deal ( ... )
