Semi-open RP for Hospital Wing...

May 25, 2007 18:09

John tried to ignore the throbbing in each of his legs and his stomach as he adjusted the braces and levered himself into some semblance of a standing position.  He'd gotten the directions for the Hospital Wing from Dr. House the night before.  All that mattered now was getting there.  Unfortunately, it seemed to be an unavoidable chance for his ( Read more... )

Oh for the love...

Lily had been filling out a chart, mind only half on her work, when a sprog had stumbled through the doors and collapsed. In a moment she was by his side, kneeling down and cradling his head in her lap. Instinctively checking his pulse points, she murmured soothingly, not really paying attention, "Dr. House doesn't work here, mate. Just lie still a moment. Where does it hurt?"

((Two questions! First - can Lily pick John up and carry him to a bed? And second - is it ok if Stephen Maturin comes in as well?))

(Sure, on both counts, as long as she's careful--Wingardium Leviosa was an idea I had about that. As for who interacts, I just wanted to make sure that anyone who was a doctor, particularly House, came in because of the Sorting thread.)

Everywhere, John thought, trying to move his lips to say as much, but nothing coherent would come out. He blinked, trying to clear his eyes, but he found tears blurring his vision before sliding out. "Every...ahhh..."

He grappled to find purchase on his right leg, right now feeling like it was splitting down the middle, but his left-hand fingers were still clumsy and weighted, sliding over the legs of his jeans where the braces lay under the fabric, hard and cold even though cloth.

"Every--" he coughed, trying to wipe his eyes with his right arm so he could at least see, but was unsuccessful.

It was at this moment that Stephen Maturin came striding through the doors of the hospital wing. "Lily, for the love of Christ and all his blessed saints --" He seemed rather heated up about something. When he saw Lily was with a patient, he stopped short.

The patient was a young man, perhaps a bit older than your average midshipman, well capable of sense, or he should be.

"Good day. I am Dr Maturin. How did you get into the Hospital Wing, young man?" His voice was ... not unkind, but not exactly coddling.

John looked up, a sharp breath catching in his throat. His eyes burned the more he blinked to clear them.

"Crawl...ed...count?"

"Gimpy, what in the hell did you send us?" Perry snapped, turning to look at House. He blinked at the sight of the wheelchair, startled. "What happened, someone finally get fed up and break it?"

Despite his tone, he didn't really look all that pissed. This was starting to turn into a circus, but he vastly preferred that to the usual ennui. Besides, Lily had gone and praised him all over the place, and that meant he was officially in a Good Mood. He ran on props.

Briefly closing her eyes, Lily let out a quiet breath then looked down at John. "I'm Lily. This is Dr. Cox," she nodded towards Perry, "and Dr. Maturin, who is also our Potions Master. And you know Dr. House. You're John, yeah? I remember you from your Sorting. And right now, you're in the Hospital Wing ( ... )

((OOC: Steenwilly-mun, feel free to jump back into the thread whenever you get back online :) ))

Though House ignored Cox's snark about the wheelchair, he did give brief thought to Stephen's suggestion about turning a part of this kids body into cheese. It would be way more interesting. But he couldn't ignore it when Lily started growling at him - good lord, he couldn't make a move in this castle without being reprimanded.

"Oh, gee, pardon my mistake. I was kind of hoping that there would be doctors in the Hospital Wing," House said sarcastically, tipping the wheelchair back so he could lean on the back wheels. "Silly thought, I suppose. I don't know why I thought that maybe sending a sick kid into the Hospital Wing might be a good idea." Besides, he'd been... coerced.

Letting the wheelchair fall back onto all four wheels, House rolled forward a few feet away from Lily, and glanced at John. "Good lord, it's a simple cast removal," he announced loudly. "Is that hard to do? Just take it off and ship him out, if you're all so pissed ( ... )

"Of a certainty there are doctors in the Hospital Wing, but this young man does not wish their attention," Stephen countered. "He felt the need to aggravate his condition further, and then nothing would do but that he must ask for Doctor House. I do wonder, in such instances. Unhealthy attachment to a single physician usually does not bode well. However, the potential to expand our study of various potions' effect on cheeseflesh far outweighs the annoyance, would you not say?"
