He tore out a page from his notebook, crumpled it, and set it on fire with his wand. "Tweleve syllables per line, rime embracee," he muttered. "Why isn't this working?"
Deciding that his position simply wasn't inspiring enough, he walked over to the other side of the Astronomy Tower. Or, at least, tried to. "Pardonnez- moi!" he exclaimed, nearly stepping on Matthew. "Did not see you zere, Monsieur."

As it turned out, it wasn't so geshrat-ish, after all. The ears were right, but the nose was too big and it had quite an underbite. If it was supposed to be a geshrat, it was done by someone who had never actually seen one. With a sigh, he swung himself around and up, monkey-like, to the roof.
He seemed a little surprised to see Matthew, but smiled slightly. "Do you mind if I join you?"

He hadn't taken much time to stargaze yet, and was a little surprised to see completely different stars than he was used to. The geshrat sighed, and muttered, "Just in case I'd forgotten I wasn't in the Abarat, I guess..."
