Not quite prefect hours but an open rp in the Gryffindor common room with the other prefect.

It was another of those times you didn't ask where Jack had acquired something from. This time it was a few arcade machines. Which had been suitably adapted to work in their new location and the best part was for free. It was just as he'd said, there was DDR two of them together, a rather worn but still none the less working original Pacman and ( Read more... )

The machines weren't completely alien to Fraser, but they were close to. Video games weren't exactly common in the Yukon, and less so in his particular corner of it. A little unsettled by their sudden appearance in the Common Room, he approached them curiously, only to spot Jack on the couch. \

"Ah! Captain Harkness." He brightened. "I take it you're on duty?" he inquired, nodding towards the little sign. "I've actually been meaning to talk to you."

Fraser obeyed immediately, seating himself a bit stiffly on one of the armchairs. He couldn't help himself -- he saw Jack as authority, and his natural inclination was to submit. He removed his hat, holding it between his hands, looking up curiously at the question. "Well, it's... I quite like it, personally, although I suppose it's not for everyone. I believe I remember you saying you were with the RAF, is that right?"

Jack watched but didn't comment, he couldn't help but make a comparison to Ianto again and how well they would get on. Then again he couldn't help wonder just how far the rule taking actually went and if there were any other comparisons with Ianto he should be thinking about, well Ianto certainly had that thing about stopwatches which was fun. He realised he might have been a little too quiet for too long.

"You could argue everything's like that, subjective and not for everyone." A shorter pause this time. "Yeah, I was." In a way. "But it was a long time ago." Or very recent dependant on the way you looked at it. "One of the many things I've done."

Fraser was a little curious about the silence, but he waited patiently for Jack to speak. "Well... yes." He smiled uncertainly, toying with his hat. "That's what I was trying to say, I suppose. The RCMP may not be for everyone -- I expect the RAF isn't, either." He grinned. "But how did you find it, if you don't mind my asking?"

"Not at all." Jack shook his head. "Oh, I loved it. Probably for all the wrong reasons but it was a good time helping out even though it was a bad time for the country as a whole. See I served during the Second World War in London." He let that hang a moment. "Time traveller you see, one of the reasons I can say I've done so much."

"A time traveller!" he echoed, surprised. "I see." One really did run into the most interesting people at Hogwarts. Truth be told, Fraser hadn't had the best impression of Jack initially, but he was quickly warming to him. "That's not a place or a period many people would choose," he commented. "That was very brave of you, Captain."

"It's so different back then, the people, the music." Jack's expression reflected his love of that time, but then he shook his head. "I'm not brave." He would never see himself like that, or a hero or anything of the sort.

Fraser gave Jack a slightly puzzled look. "You had your choice of any time or place in the universe, and yet you willingly put yourself directly into harm's way, at a time and place during which hundreds of thousands of people were killed, in order to join the fight... If that's not bravery, Captain, I'm not sure what is." He smiled a bit. "Unless I'm thinking of a different Royal Air Force, or a different World War Two, that is."
