New Year's Extravaganza! (Open RP, all school)
The great hall was lavishly decorated for the New Year's festivities. An area had been cleared away for dancing, and the house elves had erected a stage for the musical acts Molly and Cersei had recruited. The house elves moved through the crowd with trays of drinks and hors D'oeuvres, and there would be a formal supper at some point after midnight. There was also a fountain of champagne, and two other fountains of chocolate and cheese fondue, respectively. There was also a gong in the middle of the room, which the house elves would strik,e to indicate it was midnight.
Molly had been working hard on the decorating details, having left Cersei to deal with the entertainment, and she stood near the door to greet the guests. She was dressed in her best dress robes, which, while they made her look fetching, were nowhere near as fine as Cersei's.
((Molly Weasley thinks this is a formal party. Your characters, however, do not have to dress formally.
It'll be up to each person when exactly in their particular RP's the house elves strike the gong at midnight.
