“Watson!”
I heard Holmes’ muffled shout from below, probably delivered from the bottom of the stairs to my room, but I did not answer.
“You have been suspiciously silent up there for some time now,” Holmes continued. “Are you alright?”
Once more, I did not answer, my eyes and mind more than occupied by the little glass vial in my hand.

You're probably right, about the notes, and I do very much appreciate the feedback. I'm probably going to go through and take the notes out and make a new post for them (although who knows how well that'll actually work, judging by my past record in editing posts...). So thank you!
I'm terribly sorry, though. I did try to cut down on the annotations within the story (trust me, it was even worse before), and I wasn't quite sure about the notes at all, but I'm just afraid that I'm going to put in all this work and then no one will notice because I made it way too subtle or something... thank you!

I'm really glad you responded positively to my comment -- it really is a measure of how much I liked the story! Very touching stuff, the way suicide has come to seem a completely rational, sensible course of action to poor Watson rings painfully true.

Might I ask how you found it, late as you are? Were you just trawling through some archives?

I've read a lot of fic and wanted you to know that I think you have written a very fresh and original take on STUD. I hope you have continued to write.

Your words are greatly appreciated. I've always looked back on this piece with a lot of trepidation (I have more than a few qualms with it as an old and inexperienced piece of work...), so your positivity is refreshing. Thank you!
(I have continued to write, since you ask, but I moved over to Ao3 a little while ago. You can find my new (and some of the old) stuff over there.)
