... I already have a multi-fandom notion:

The News Media in Modern Genre Television

This panel will explore the portrayals of journalists and news stations in our recent and current favorite programs, including Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, etc ( Read more... )

That's a bloody good idea for a panel! If they decide to do it, I want to be on it!

Is The X-Files too old to go into that?

Is the liberal fantasy The West Wing genre enough to count? (You know what I'd say about that one's departures from reality, but hey, I'm not running it. *g*)

How about movies? (Batman - heck, The Dark Knight Returns (comic) with its talking heads would be *great* for this.)

And the roomie just reminded me of Farscape, which did a documentary ep. (Constelation of Doubt.)

FF's news media was very low key and background, iirc. And the fourth estate is a recent enough invention that I don't see many pure fantasy series having newies running about with the dragons.

OH! You *HAVE* to start with clips from "Max Headroom"! MUST MUST MUST!

Well, if you would like, that is. *g*

So am I correct to read this flood of ideas as a glowing endorsement of the idea? *g*

Since we only have an hour, I'd probably limit the discussion to broadcast genre. Still, that leaves quite a lot of material to cover, including XF and Max.

*makes note to actually watch Max Headroom*
