Went to sleep straight after the ceremony at 6am but couldn't sleep until 7 somehow. Woke up at about 11:30am. So I'm not going to function well today.

I was pretty underwhelmed by "The Hurt Locker" too, but didn't see any of the other movies. (Besides "Up", which (1) had no shot, (2) would bother me ON PRINCIPLE because I loved "Wall-E" more.)
well in 2003 I saw some of these after the ceremony I think ;)
My faves were Up (as you said, no shot), Inglourious Basterds (too much a "hate it or love it" kind of movie) & then District 9 (sci-fi but a good commentary on society, war, racism...), An Education (just lovely) and Up in the Air
I'm planning to see 'Inglourious Basterds' and 'Up in the Air' as soon as I can get my hands on them. My mom loved 'An Education' too so I'll probably see that eventually. (Nick Hornby!)
I actually really loved Avatar but the last (and only) time I REALLY cared about a moview winning or not was LotR so I'm not THAT disappointed ^^
To be honest,I haven't watched any movie this/last year that was Oscar worthy in my eyes (as I said,I loved Avatar but it would never stand a chance against LotR or Brokeback Mountain for example). Only Up and it was totally obvious it wouldn't win Best Picture...
I really thought that Avatar was going to win, which would have been a shame since it already won in 1990, when it was called Dances with Wolves. :-P But I'm glad it at least got recognized for its visuals - that was definitely deserved! I haven't seen The Hurt Locker yet, but it's on my Netflix queue (something tells me that one's now at "Very Long Wait," LOL). My favorite of the ones I did see was District 9. There was just something about it - really resonated with me!
Oh and how about that crazy lady who pulled a Kanye on the director for the best short documentary!? That was nuts; she came across as a total loon. Apparently she had been fired from the project over a year ago but just wouldn't be denied. Sheesh!
