In honour of my birthday (and this is honestly not a call for more birthday greetings, I should point out), I am posting. Woot, and indeed, ooh

Yay, she posts :-) And I won't wish you "Happy Birthday" here cos I did it else where,... Oh bugger just did never mind :-D Damn glad you had a lovely birthday & got to Hobbycraft too. There's one thing buying as you say pieces from Amazon but quite another experience altogether when you can get to somewhere like Hobbycraft & you discover all these other crafty items you didn't know existed :-D Great pics of a great hoard :-) x
Hee, well i never said people *couldnt* do it, just wasn't hinting is all.. :) And yes exactly, i mean, I'd never have even thought of paint it yourself wee card/whatever boxes (50p each, wow), or the 3d paper stuf, whatever it is, or the tiny embroidery scissors (I was thinking i needed a knife but scissors are safer).. Its a dangerous place, just as well its out of town and so needs a special trip, if it was in the city centre I'd likely never leave the place *giggle*
I've barely looked at LJ in a good number of years but something or other has got me back into the habit of posting of late. My friends page is a bit of a wasteland, so it was a nice surprise to a post from you crop up, ugh, out of the blue!
Two hours in Hobbycraft, how restrained of you ;) Those boxes that you can decorate are definitely intriguing, I've looked at them before and thought 'hmmm!' but managed not to buy any. I bet you could do good stuff with paper mache on them, making different curls and shapes and then painting it all different colours.
Hee, it was an intensive 2 hours, I looked at *everything*. Well, ok, not the yoghurt making supplies (?? strange..). The boxes are so cheap i couldn't resist, doing papier mache on them sounds like a good idea, not my cup of tea but I bet you'd do great, Hobbycraft have whole solid animals made of the same stuff, which would probably be a fun project, they're a good foot high so take a while to decorate mind.
Yoghurt making supplies!? Really?! I've seen those in Holland and Barrett, wouldn't have expected to have them in Hobbycraft. I mean, it's not exactly a craft. I think they play a bit loose with the definition really, I know ours stocks Airfix kits which aren't a craft as such but they're a hobby with some kind of artistic aspect. I do think that's pushing it really though.
They've an entire baking department so i suppose its come out of there, tho i got the impression the baking was more for fancy cakes and cupcakes you can do pretty designs on, not something that really applies to yoghurt. I didn't notice Airfix kits at this store..

Ooh, happy birthday! And happy painting!
Our Hobbycraft is within walking distance and right beside the pet food store: so very dangerous.
