Hobbits need sunlight to live

So, a while ago there was a fic, where in a throw-away line the author suggested that hobbits get sick from the lack of sunlight. I loved the idea, and was thinking what if, after a happyAU!ending to BotFA Bilbo stayed at Erebor (at least until winter is over). Winter, however, is long and Erebor's gate is closed.

And then Bilbo becomes sick. It's minor at first, but gets worse fast until his life is in danger. Meanwhile the dwarves have no idea what is wrong, and Bilbo himself does not know either (how so? Hobbit's are rarely away from the open sky for long)

Gen or slash - both is perfectly fine. :)
