A/N: I felt bad for all the angst and not really filling the prompt properly, so I wrote another one instead of doing all the essay reading I needed to do this morning oh well.

Thorin wakes to dawn light breaking over the treetops, dusky pink against the fleeing darkness of night. He starts for a moment, confused and lost-where is the stone? where is the mountain?-but as he remembers the cold earth at his back and the dew-damp blanket thrown around his shoulders, lies back, lets himself breathe. The mountain is gone, now, and they flee the dragon’s wrath - and Thror is ever-silent, never looking to his people, consumed by the rage and guilt in his heart

They can’t be like this in front of their father, their grandfather, because their family has lost so much already and they have to be strong, have to stand fast, and Dis can’t cry in front of her children, can’t let them know how scared she is, how full of loss - but they can be honest with each other. Dis’ arms are tight around his shoulders, and they sit together in the dawn light, clinging to each other like they’re drowning

Oh, this is so lovely. The loss is there, of course, but so is the hope, and you've conveyed that really well.

Omg ; A ;

This is so beautiful. I love seeing Thorin being so supportive and yet just as vulnerable. I love seeing Dis at ALL. I love the faith she puts in Thorin to see them through. Ack feelings~♥

I'm a sucker for Dis!fic and you portrayed her wonderfully. I love the quiet moment, that they don't need words, and the comfort. You can feel the pain, but there is hope. (Also, I laughed at Fili and Kili in the stream, it's something my nephew would do.) Great job!
