*Waves from her hole*

Breaking the silence to say a big thank you tojoyful_molly and lineae for their wonderful postcard from Greenwich.

The main reason why I almost never post/comment on LJ these days is that, my job apart, I'm pretty busy with giving the ultimate polishing to "Conversation in Port Royal: Chapter 2" (are you ready for a new onslaught of the English language, alex_beecroft ? ;) ). I ( Read more... )

Thank you for the link and vid. :)

Since you're so busy I wouldn't normally presume to link to one of my own LJ entries! However, with your love of the 18th century you might like to see these photos of Bath's famous Georgian architecture (scroll up for first photo).

Thank you for the video link! :) I am especially impressed with the gorgeous blue gown the lady with the lute is wearing - would that picture be by Antoine Pesne? *wild guessing*

And while you don't post particularly often, I always enjoy your posts once they are there - they are always interesting to read and you often post such neat links!

Oh yes, the dress of the lady in blue is my secret dream too ! :) I checked the web for confirmation of your guess about Pesne (I'm impressed by your knowledge !) but all I could find is this site about lute in music history: http://www.aquilacorde.com/lutes.htm, where the painting is mentioned as "Portrait of Eleonoire von Kayserlingt, 1740 ca".

Thank you for the vote of confidence ! I research a lot more than actually needed for my fannish scribblings and I suspect that the research-effort/writing-effort ratio is much unbalanced towards research. ;)

I searched a bit, too, and voilà: Pesne it is (and there are some other of his portraits on the site, too).

And I am glad you do so much research - what you share is always very interesting and often great fun at the same time. :)

Wonderful paintings - and the dresses! I still think I'd go for a simple maid's dress, though. I'm really not made for nobility... ;-)

I'm glad for small signs of life from you, even if it's a one-liner saying "still here!" so I know all is well with you. I fully understand the time research takes up, and I've got lost in that blog as well. Looking forward to more of your writing, of course! :-D

The card came from Lineae, I just signed - I forgot all my addresses at home. As usual - I'm terrible. :*
