but a few short notes before I leave to visit ankae1.) On Thursday I went to see 'Spirited Away' and it's a beautiful, beautiful movie. It had the same atmosphere and logic of many of my weirder dreams... Gotta go see it again next week, if I can find the time. Highly recommended ( Read more... )

Spirited Away! Spirited Away! I love Spirited Away! :) I am glad you liked it, hmpf. :)

Want icons, by the way? I put some up here a while ago. You can take some, if you want. :) Just post a comment on this thread if you do take one, so I can keep track of what you take. Or you can request something else, if you want. :)

Oh, and Poison was great! I don't really watch that many music videos anymore, but I just can't stop watching that one. Every scene is just perfect. And hey, what a great choice for a song! ;)

*goes off to watch Poison some more*

I liked Spirited Away (I saw it on DVD in Japanese with subtitles. Is the German dub okay?) but I like Princess Mononoke much better. It simply has more depth with its man vs nature theme, whereas Spirited Away is just a nice family movie. Unfortunately, judged by the numbers I read on Animexx, a lot of families/parents haven't realized this. But as the big studios keep telling us, classical animation (yeah, Spirited Away is Anime, but the general population does not perceive this difference yet, I believe) is dead and everything needs to be 3D these days. *sigh*
BTW, I went to see "Sinbad-Legend of the 7 seas" a week ago. Nice. Not great but nice.

Well, I can't say which is the better movie, but I must say that... hmpf August 18 2003, 18:28:26 UTC
I liked Spirited Away better than Princess Mononoke. Not for depth or anything as fancy as that, but simply for the pure dream quality of it. It's very rare that a work of art truly captures the feeling of a dream, and this movie did.
