My flist is swamped with Doctor Who.

Bad timing for my first foray into flist reading in two years...

Hey, btw. This dreamwidth thing. Has that really taken off? I may have to check out all the individal LJs of my LJ friends after all, to find out if the reason why they're not posting anymore (if they aren't posting, that is) is because they're just busy or because they've moved to

lj catching up

Eh, like one person I know mostly migrated to dreamwidth and she cross-posts everything (there's an automated thing you can set up to ship your dreamwidth posts to LJ, I think). I think that dreamwidth took off more in some areas of fandom than others though so I may be getting a skewed reading... I have a dreamwidth cus someone gave me an invite, but I've never used it.

Oh, you need an invite? hmpf January 3 2010, 18:11:30 UTC
Well, there goes my idea of using it for backup purposes.

Ha, I was about to offer to send you one of mine (I'm sure I have some and I've never used them), but it looks like someone beat me to it!

Seems everyone on my flist who posts there is crossposting here, and there's only a few. The only thing I use my DW account for is backing up my LJ with the import function.

Dammit, that sounds useful.

I have some DW invites and you're welcome to one. No one seems to want them anymore LOL

Well, it sounds useful for the import feature. hmpf January 3 2010, 18:42:08 UTC
So, yes, I think I'd like one. Thanks! (I've seen my own website and an archive I'm an admin at hacked last year, so I'm really fond of making backups now. )

I'm not using it. And sorry for helping to swamp your flist with Doctor Who.

Heh, don't worry. hmpf January 3 2010, 18:33:40 UTC
The swamping is mostly my own fault, for having subscribed to so many Who communities. I need to unsubscribe, I think.

I have a Dreamwidth account I've never used, nor I inted to use unless LJ goes down (which I hope won't happen, anyway). Had I known you wanted an invite, I'd have sent you one, because I have a few and nobody seems to want them anymore. *shrugs ( ... )

No, I haven't watched (new) Doctor Who since, oh, the third or so Tennant episode, years ago. I keep wavering over whether to go back and give it another try. The reviews I keep reading do *not* help - the consensus seems to be "part of it is just terrible and part of it is awesome". I'm not sure how much terrible I'm willing to take with my awesome. *sigh*

I'm not watching it mainly cus I couldn't take that much terrible with an ever-decreasing amount of awesome. But then if you ask me about Donna (season 4 companion) I'm liable to get all red in the face on a par with my extreme hatred of most of the last half-season of BSG, AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT KIND OF THING LEADS TO. ;)

So um, my opinion is don't bother with it; watch OldWho and then if you're interested in NewWho, wait until next season when Moffat is in charge of it all since he actually writes good episodes. Though I'm not sure I'll've recovered enough to give it another try. *pines for Sylvester McCoy*
