I just accidentally deleted every single copy of the new version of my LOM vid from my computer. That means all the backup versions on other drives, too. And yes, I only noticed *after* I'd also emptied the 'recycled' folders. That's German thoroughness for you ( Read more... )

I have a version somewhere -- one that you posted as a beta draft, I believe (I am not entirely sober right now, and not entirely clear). Let me know if you need it and I'll upload.

Thanks, but the video has been recovered - hmpf July 23 2008, 18:12:42 UTC
thanks to a data recovery program. I hadn't done very much on my computer since the Great Delete, so all the project files could be restored. Plus, as a side effect I've learned which files absolutely not to delete when working with Premiere. *g*

(Also, the version you have is the old WMM version - but thanks for the offer anyway! :-))

Is it the 'A & B song'? You sent me your draft #17 last year and I still have it in my PC. Dunno if you need it, but I'm telling you just in case.

Yes, but the situation has been resolved. hmpf July 23 2008, 18:07:35 UTC
(See below.)

Also, the draft you have is the Windows Movie Maker version - which is useless now that I'm using Premiere. (And I still have plenty of copies of it, too - there's one on my webspace, and several on a couple of CDs, and one on my USB drive, and one on my laptop. I am usually quite good at keeping multiple backups of important stuff - I'm a digital packrat, really, which probably explains why my fanvid collection exceeds 30 GB *g* - I just went into an uncharacteristic, crazy harddrive cleaning frenzy yesterday. *sheepish*)

The link above is the link I used to recover about half my files when I lost nearly everything on my computer, so it might be a good idea to try that. I'm also assuming this is the version you showed me recently and not the older #17?

ARGH this is awful, I'm so sorry for you! That really sucks! And I can't even offer to help you with Premiere because I fear it like a fearful thing!

(Oh, also, though this might be horribly insensitive timing, I did post the final version of the rap battle vid at my LJ yesterday if you wanted it!)

The video is saved. :-) hmpf July 23 2008, 17:59:19 UTC
First thing I did after work this morning - even before breakfast/lunch.

The version I showed you was still the same old Windows Movie Maker version, btw, i.e. version #17; the Premiere version isn't any longer than those 'lost' 63 seconds yet, and not ready to be shown to anyone. I just felt like maybe getting back into editing yesterday night, and discovered that the drive I had all the files on was hopelessly cluttered - to the point of being completely full - with copies and backups and such. Hence the clean-up frenzy.

Totally looking forward to watching Laura Roslin and the Hybrid duking it out later tonight! Hope the weird pms thing is over by then, though... *g* Is the aspect-ratio-corrected version of Tricks available already, too? I may want to rec both... (Yes, I realise I could just go to your website and look, but since I'm talking to you here anyway, and I'm lazy, and at work, i.e. can't watch vids on this computer... ;-))

Indeed! My Fabulously Ugly Website now hosts correctly aspected versions of everything! Although some of them are so small and low quality as to be depressing. *le sigh* And you flatter me with your possible future reccing. ;)

I'm glad you managed to save your vid though! And...actually, yes, I did know that it was the same 17th version because you told me that but...my head was fuzzy it seems. *headdesk*

Hope work goes well!
