Not being a Harry Potter fan, I've only seen films #1 and #3.

Film #1 was tediously terminally dull, with every moment deemed significant enough for an orchestral flourish. Harry walks into a shop! Harry walks out of a shop!

Film #3 started terribly, but by the end it was actually a great story and worth watching as a film in its own right.

I find it interesting that all the publicity for film #6 has just concentrated on Harry Potter! Potter! Potter! And nothing about what the film is *about*, and why non-Potterheads would want to see it...

I must admit I haven't seen much advertising for the film, but it's not really got a story in it's own right like films 1-4. 5 and 6 are more focused on the whole Voldemort thing that runs through the whole series, so I could see it would be difficult to do that.

However, I guess the main reason is they've made it big enough to just sell if they let people know when it's on if they just feed the mania.

I have to say, in the end, I was glad I didn't go to the Imax because those opening scenes made me surprisingly dizzy even without 3D (though with a very alrge screen still *g*)

But the effects, where used, were generally fantastic and really beautifully done and I loved Bellatrix kicking and smashing her way through the Great Hall.

I still love Luna though, and Evanna as Luna, she's just wonderfully not there.

I was feeling a little motion sick during those opening scenes and was glad to take the glasses off afterwards, but it was good to see though.
