Well I am absolutely exhausted. Last week was the last week of term, which means seeing all my students, final lectures and a load of admin. Then there was the 10th anniversary of the ERC, where I had to give a presentation and go to a drinks thing. I also spent two whole days on hopsital appointments with my Mum (it's still very stressful and she feels worse rather than better). Then this week was the big international conference I organised, where I also had to give a research paper. So very dead just now!
But there was a rabbit, a barn owl and a muntjac deer outside just before, which was nice.
You've been up to so much again. I hope you get to rest this weekend!
Is that picture new, as in you've photographed it recently? If it is, I envy how much like summer it is for you already. I know you don't like hot weather, though.
Thank you bb! I am indeed hoping for a weekend off :)
No, the picture is an old one actually. I found it in one of my LJ picture albums, but I can't remember off the top of my head when it was taken. I do like sheep though :)
Sorry to hear your mum is still struggling. I hope the doctors can figure things out--it's the 21st century. You'd think things wouldn't be so difficult anymore.
And echoing Neaptidea that you def need to find some down time for yourself.
But congrats on getting through all of those events. I hope that means that your life calms down now.
It's fun but winter is not the best time for it, really. It was very cold the year I was there and I remember feeling like my face froze into place. It's not a bad idea to have a costume that covers your face.
And I know very well the amazement at seeing them and think it was just yesterday they were tiny babies. Honestly, I didn't have that feeling as much with my girls. But with Sonshine, yeah, still happens. :0)
Good luck to your boy making university choices! History and similar courses are something I can very much recommend as a Classicist :) I know it's hard making that decision though. So he'll be putting in his applications in September I suppose? That gives a chance to do some virtual university 'shopping' in the meantime to see what he likes. Has he got his heart set on a particular university?
My advice to people choosing university courses is always to a) choose a subject you enjoy and feel you are good at, and b) do your homework about what the course involves (courses at different universities can be very different even if they have the same name) and what the chosen university would be like to live at for three years. Good luck!!
It must be helpful that your son's school organizes such a conference. I've never heard about anything similar here. Counseling is subpar in many ways, due to lack of money.

And great icicles, too. We've had a couple of warm-ish days here so nothing like that to picture at the moment.
