Methos appeared to seriously consider the thought. "The custom is easier to foster in an apocalyptic environment rife with famine, but I'm willing to experiment on the current culture…there are promising signs. Join me?" Methos hinted.

Joe shook his head. "Maybe next apocalypse.”

I am in awe. What an amazing story. I don't know how to begin telling you how this blew me away. Perfect techno-babble. Perfect characters. And the convoluted story was perfect -- now THIS is the Methos and Joe roadshow to end all. I am just wowed. WOW!

“You know the secret of survival, Joe?” Methos steadied him by the elbow and handed him another beer. “Practice, practice, practice…”

I was agog while reading. And then this line made me LOL
suffice to say, Joe, if they ever offer you a red shirt, decline.

Thank you, jotribe! The techno-babble about blew my editing circuits, but it was fun linking Roddenberry's 1966 slingshot effect to an article on quantum mechanics and time travel that came out last month. It is amazing what you stumble over on a twitter feed. It is synchronicity like that blew my planned little jaunt in orbit into a multi-parallel space-time inversion from heck.

Oh, the red shirts. There's a whole book there about Methos and Amanda slow-burgling the Enterprise as red shirt replacements. But that is, as they say, another story.

Making the immortal Flint an Immortal and having the same thing happen to the others when they left Earth was inspired. I love that Methos and Amanda had trouble staying on the Enterprise long enough to do what they needed because they were red shirts and kept getting killed.

Thank you! I figured that the highest turnover positions on the Enterprise would be Security with a side of Engineering--Security for Red Shirt reasons, and Engineering because there would be a high demand on other ships for engineers that had passed Scotty's high standards of performance :) Thanks for reading!
