Oh, this is lovely, the very best kind of fairy tale! And it was lovely picking up the references to Robin McKinley's Beauty, too - I really loved that book. The storyteller's conceit was great - your coin or two in his cap is well deserved, and consider it done!

I am glad that you enjoyed it! I always loved the invisible ladies' maids the best, the way they are so matter-of-fact. And the way that Beauty is not so beautiful at the start. It was fun to take some of that, and some of the original, and some of Disney plus Highlander and mash them together.
