Oh, this was so great. Thank you! So much to love here.

There was

The silence hung heavy between them, the air thick with unspoken words, until one of them moved and they were in each other's arms.

and

Duncan reached up to caress his cheek. "You know I will always love you."

and also

They didn't speak as they walked side by side. There was no need for words as Duncan took his hand.

And everything else in the middle. :)

I love the depth of the friendship you show here between Duncan and Methos. And I do have a soft spot for Methos/f.

Thank you so much. This was bittersweet and touching and sad but filled with love. In other words, perfect.

Btw, I'm not sure if it's a good sign or a bad sign that you did pick me as the author. But it did amuse me that you did.

Actually, Tray and I were a bit worried. When I first read your sign-up post and saw you didn't like death stories, I was thinking Gathering or main character death. Then after I wrote the story I went back and looked at your post again. Then Tray and I spent a couple of "oh shit" days wondering what to do. Then, as I said, I was editing every day and not giving myself distance. So I didn't look at it again until the day before the reveal and did one final edit. I think I fixed many things and it reads a lot better.

Oh, and Happy New Year. I think AOL will be the perfect forum for next year.

I really enjoyed how Autumn is painted in such clear, bold strokes as a believable and well-loved companion for Methos, and was truly saddened at her tragic and untimely end. Very well executed!

Thank you. Story now reedited and posted on AO3 here . As an aside, every Autumn event was a true story about either myself or someone I know. Btw, I love horror movies and I'm shorter than Methos.

Loved your warning - "Highlander - there be beheadings" - and then found the tension of your beginning so well drawn out to the end!

Thank you. The story is now reedited and posted on AO3 here Love and Beyond Edited Version . I do think it is a much better read now although the story remains intact.

The ending of this made me tear up.

I love the idea that their lives can go on, and they can live, and grow, and learn, and meet new people, and still have this love for one another-whatever form it takes.

Thank you. Now reedited and placed on AO3. One of the things I love about Duncan and Methos is that I see their love remaining strong even though I don't necessarily see them remaining a couple until one of them loses his head (although that wouldn't happen in my universe).
