I have no idea who most of the Torchwood characters are, and the only thing I know about Jack is that, uh, he's apparently very pretty and will flirt with any man/woman/alien/artifact around. But your depiction of his confusion and yearning to belong really made me feel for him. And I think I grinned when Duncan started busting in to save Methos. *g*

It's Jack's emotional vulnerability that make him interesting, so I hope the writers focus on that this next season. And he's sooo sexy and cute! *g*

And Duncan will *always* bust in to save Methos, yes? ;)

What a wonderful, wonderful pressie!

Love the voices on everyone -- I could hear them all, and envision the looks on all the faces, and all the salacious glances :-)

Jack thinking Methos is a regenerated version of the Doctor -- hee! And of course Tosh's scanners would pick up Quickening energy. Very neat and plausible combination. Also love the sweet-sadness of Jack and Methos' understanding of it.

Thank you so much!

"Jack thinking Methos is a regenerated version of the Doctor -- hee!"

Yeah, I had to throw that in. Not only did it make sense that Jack would think that, but there is a vague resemblance between Methos and the current Doctor, I think. *g* It's that gaunt face and the nose.

Delighted you liked it. Merry Christmas!

Happiness of the season to you :-)

Thank you again for writing this! And I would indeed love to see the tale of Methos and Jack in 1944 (he does seem to have a connection to that time, doesn't he? Empty Child/Doctor Dances, Cpt Jack Harkness, Paradox ....

And now I just cannot get the conviction that Jack=Face of Boe out of my brain. Because I can see how it could be, and though I don't *actually* think it is, I wouldn't put the possiblity past the creators!

In one of the last episodes of the season (or was it in the sequel to the Dr. Who episode "Utopia"?), Jack says in a joking aside towards the end of the episode, that a nickname other kids called him when he was growing up was "The Face of Bo". It was just a passing reference, a throw away - unless you knew what the future held.

Great story. I say ditto to the previous comments plus: good characterization. I'm familiar with Torchwood and DW and your story made it much clearer for me what it's like for Jack as an immortal of a different type and how lonely it must be and difficult for him not knowing what he really is. I hope you plan to write more Jack and Methos stories. How about writing about their meeting during the war that Jack doesn't know about yet. :)

I'm so pleased you liked it! If I weren't in such a state of writer's block, the flashback story would already be half-written. I'll work on that one. *g*

Thanks so much for the kind feedback.

(Just in case you wonder, I'm trying to keep my comments anonymous so the author can't be guessed by checking off every commenter.)

I know nothing whatsoever about Torchwood, really, but still the story worked perfectly for me. So did the Methos/Mac relationship, even though I'm not a Methos/Mac shipper. Great story!

Thank you!!

It's really especially nice when a story works even for someone who isn't familiar with one of the fandoms.
