Ha! I see. All I remembered was that 20th date. So, I'll actually need a step by step "how to" in order to get my story up there. I'm doing a final read-through tomorrow, then I'll be ready to post that stinker.
I'm on A03. I hope we're posting ourselves so I can do a preview to make sure it looks the way I want it to.
1. Yes, it's supposed to go live the 20th. I confused yuletide this year and thought posting deadline was the 20th, so I had to beg to be reinstated this morning. ALL my deadlines are effed.
2. You have to post yourself to the collection(the subcollection called hl2016), but that is good because you can make all the edits you want! I know how you are about edits. :)
If you have posted to Ao3 before, this is easy to do. You just have to add it to the right collection when you post. Should be easy peasy.
I believe when you post as normal, there's a section called "collections. You can check "add this to a collection, and start to search for collections (the one you want is hl2016). If you check that, the story will go to that collection. I have the collection setting on anonymous and delayed posting, so that's all on my end.
I'm getting the impression that not everyone here is used to AO3 fests, especially ones without fixed assignments, so I think there are a couple good tips you might want to pass on.
1. Put the recipient's AO3 user name in the "Gift this work to" field. Then they'll get an e-mail when you make the story available.
2. Let people know that when you reveal a story, the author should change the date to the current day. That way it will show up at the top of the tags, not buried three pages back. They can do this by ticking the "Set a different publication date" box, and changing the listed date to the present day.
:-) I presume that posting worked, because it always has before, and because the banner says: "This work is part of an ongoing challenge and will be revealed soon! You can find details here: Highlander Secret Santa (ShortCuts) 2016." :-)
But if for any reason my submission isn't there for you to confirm, please let me know.
Golly, but I do love being able to edit on the AO3 in the time between loading and revealing. ;-)

I thought we were putting them up on the 20th. Did I look at it wrong? I'll go look again, but that was the day I was planning to upload.

So, I log on to my A03 account, then how do I get to where I need to be for that subcollection?
How will it be anonymous when I post? How does that work?

Is posting still starting on the 20th?
