Share an Icon?

Sep 26, 2011 23:50

Hello my friends,

As we come to a close, allow me to open up this post for one final icon sharing opportunity. If you created any of the fabulous icons from the most recent challenge, and/or if you have a few little other works of art lurking on your hard drive which you're willing to share, post here please!

Many thanks :D.

Oh, man, I love so many of those -- thank you!! Claudia and that gold shawl is just amazing, and I love the dark to light on the top one of Amanda.

Oh, thank you so much!

I really wanted that gold to pop and I think I got it. Some others didn't pop like I wanted them to.

Oh, it did. I was chatting with someone and pointed to the contest and I think your use of light and dark was compared to Vermeer.

Thanks for having this community, it was a nice journey. Sorry to see it go, but all things must end. Your work was appreciated. This last batch of icons was especially hard to choose from, they were all lovely.

I think they should keep the community and just threaten it to be the last post to get us to get carried away all the time!

I must know how you make the color pop like that! I try textures and it doesn't ever come out like I want it! I must know!

LOL! Sometimes I think I make the colour pop too much!

I use soft light layers a lot. I've just checked what I did with the Amanda and her fan icon and that's a base layer, a duplicate layer at screen, a duplicate layer at soft light, a hue/saturation layer with saturation bumped to 36 (which is much more than I would normally do but it seemed to work with this one) then a gaussian blur layer (to which I am painfully addicted) set at 50% soft light and then a partly sharpened layer on top of that. I tried various other layers and textures but in the end it worked best like that.

I played around with the other icons a lot more but Amanda always works best for me *g*.

For some reason, I think that way about the females too. It's like the director was saying, "Hey, we'll put the really hot actors in shadows chasing other immortals in the dark and then have a big lightning storm. We'll do this in 1992 before Hi-def so when fangirls years later want to make icons or screencaps, they can't! And Action!"

Meanwhile, "But...all the women will have soft and pretty lighting and they will mysteriously glow so that making icons for them will be easy as pie!"
