The Holidays were a cheerful and festive time. In fact, this season was Daphne Greengrass's favorite time of a year. Everyone seemed to be in a better mood around bright lights, wrapped presents, and the jingle bells. It was about the only time that she preferred to see snow on the ground rather than feel the sand between her toes

But he still followed after her, letting her lead them to their table. He had to admit, as much as decorations were not his thing, he couldn't help but think the aesthetic was really nice- if he cared enough to remember later, he might give the party planners his regards.
Maybe.
If he wasn't already tangled under the covers with Skylar.

She found a relatively empty spot in the buzzing room. The band was starting to pick up now that cocktail hour had officially began. A few brave souls had made their way onto the dance floor. Rather than join them, Skylar was happy sipping on her vodka soda, looking up at her date with a less than innocent look.
"I should add how absolutely and utterly romantic you can be when you want."

"I think you've got the wrong Chosen One," he said, shaking his head. "Believe me, there is not a single person out there who would call me romantic."
He could almost see Ginny and Hermione collapse into a fit of laughter in his head.

"I must have taken a lovely ferris wheel ride with the other Boy Who Lived and then somebody else completely made me the most delicious pancakes that I have ever had," she countered, raising her eyebrows to give him a knowing look. Skylar took a long sip of her vodka soda.
"I think, Mr. Potter, I make you mushy. Don't fight it."

"Merlin, think of what it'll do to my roguish, man-whoring persona?" he continued, pressing his palm to his chest as if he were overwhelmed. "I'm getting a heart ache just thinking about it."

"Well, please don't let little old me stand in your way! I didn't realize I was tearing down this fantastic reputation you've built," she told him, looking down at her lap with a disappointed look. Skylar began to get up very slowly, "I can see I'm no longer needed..."

"You're my secret identity," he said, throwing her a wink before kissing her gently on the mouth. "And by secret, I mean kissing you in public kind of secret- which is obviously not very secret-"
Say secret again, Potter-
He laughed.
"Do you wanna embarrass me on the dance floor or what Fawcett?"

She reached for his glass and took a sip before handing it back to him. It burned all the way down. Skylar couldn't help but make a face.
"How can you even drink that?" she asked, half coughing. "Finish that and yes, I will do my best to make you look like an utter fool."

He couldn't help but laugh softly at her reaction from the drink knowing full well that firewhiskey was the last thing Skylar would have ever ordered. At least that he knew about her off hand.
He brought the glass to his lips, tilting it back and drinking it in one smooth shot.
"Now- let me show off-"

"Let's see what you can do, Potter," she mused, already making her way to the dance floor. Skylar looked over her shoulder to make sure that he was following. If he wanted to tease her, he'd get that right back.

But he found he was doing a lot of things tonight he wouldn't usually just for Skylar.
Trouble, trouble.
"You know- I'm not exactly all that coordinated-" he told her, pushing his glasses up just slightly as he met her on the floor.

"You just don't have enough practice," she told him, reaching for his hands. The song had a good rhythm too it, not slow but not too fast. It was the type of song to warm everybody up until the real party started up after dinner and a few rounds of drinks. She moved her body close to his. "You seemed coordinated enough at school on the Quidditch team. I think you can manage."

Feel the beat? Merlin, that sounded stupid.

"Maybe not catching the Snitch but managing to stay on your broom all those meters in the air?" she countered, placing her hands on his hips to gently guide him. While she may not be a fan of heights, Skylar had loved soaring through the air during matching. She felt more graceful and alive than she ever had reading her books.
"Well, I do remember you didn't always manage to stay on the broom."

"You know, being targeted for murder every day and all that," he added, this time with a large grin.
