At a Meeting of Webcomic Addicts

My name is HJ, and I'm addicted to webcomics. It's the first thing I do in the morning, check my webcomics.

Today was a pretty good day for them.

I count The Boondocks as a webcomic because I live in the conservative south (two Bushes for the price of...). Today was a good one -- apparently, "Go see Catwoman!" can be used as a threat.

I'm not going to tell Piro jack about how he does his business. The sequence in the open-air bar, with Largo telling his story and Piro and Kimiko dueling it over? I've never seen sequential art done better. I own a chunk of Miller's first run on Daredevil, and his complete second run. I own the first 50 issues of Hellblazer. I have, one way or another, all of Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run. I have Watchmen. I have the first 25 or so US books of Lone Wolf and Cub. I've read great gobs of The Spirit. I've never seen better, and if we harsh him, he'll take his ball and go home.

I didn't say it wasn't good. Just that it wasn't on time.

If it wasn't good, it wouldn't work being as late as it is. The only reason he can have Megatokyo as his main business with the sporadic update schedule he has is because of the quality of the work. You look at it and think, "Oh, well, it's late, but at least it's pretty."

Yeah. That's true enough. But, like I said, I'm not going to harsh him about it. People harshed about Renn and Stimpy's schedule, and was there a second (or was it third?) season? No. I want MWF, of course, and would far prefer daily, but a little late here or there isn't going to make me complain.

That was kind of half my joke. He does get three comics out a week; they're just almost universally late. It actually doesn't irritate me, it's kind of like a game. If I click the link, will the new comic be up?

Having now gotten into two different fanfiction pieces which are abandoned-WIPs, I am happy as long as it is finished, whenever that may be.
