WTF, LJ, and other stuff

Nov 30, 2010 17:03

Huh. I just found myself with an hour to kill and thought, "I've been bitching for months about how LJ ate half my icons and saying I need to reupload a bunch of them." So this afternoon I went to fix the situation, and lo and behold, my icons were back! Weird. I've added a few oldies but goodies. I need new/differnt ones. Except that I don't, ( Read more... )

I'm starting to need an lj-cut just to get down the hall.

I think that it would be awesome to have them all memorized so that at any given point during my labor I can simply quote Al at full volume. How better to bring our son into the world?

I LOVE YOU. (Also, one of my five Christmas-list icons is S2 Deadwood. Because we all need more cocksuckers in our lives. I mean.)

Cynthia, you look gorgeous. (And hi, Scout!) I only wish I were still in the Bay Area so I could've seen you. :(

*hugs*

*Christmas-list items. I don't even know, Cynthia, words are hard.

*pets* It's fine. It actually made perfect sense to me. Apparently words are hard all over.

Re: Al Swearengen quotes... This one is one Marc may need to memorize:

"Pain or damage don’t end the world, or despair or fucking beatings. The world ends when you’re dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man-and give some back."

Of course, it may get him kicked; these are the risks one takes when mixing Deadwood and childbirth.

Also, thanks, sweetie. In general, I feel good about how I look in person; pictures make me self conscious. Wish you were still in the Bay Area, too, for many reasons, several of them unselfish.

1) You look great! Also, when I was pg with my first, I had a lot of people telling me I wasn't showing as much as they thought I would. It happens. :)

2) Didn't know you weren't going back to work. You mean permanently, as in you want to do the SAHM thing? Or you want to do the WAHM thing and freelance/contract?

Thank you! I don't really mind the fact that I'm getting bigger (though the difference between how I see myself in a mirror and how I see myself in photos is significant), but having her repeatedly tell me she wouldn't even know I was pregnant does a number on my pre-pregnancy body perception :-)

Also, yes, I have decided not to go back to work. For the immediate future, I'll be doing the SAHM thing (though I might take on a very occasional freelance job for my current employer), and then the plan is for me to move into a part-time library job in a couple of years. We figure that a) this may well be the only kid we have, so we'd like to take full advantage of it, and b) right now we can afford it, so we might as well take advantage of that rather than spend my entire salary on childcare and not get to spend much time with him.

I can see where you're coming from on the prepregnancy body perception thing, definitely :)

Sounds like a great plan with doing the SAHM mom thing for a bit before heading into the library job. Kudos! I'm happy for you (and your growing family). :)

THIS right here is why I get freaked out every time Marc's grandmother sees me and says I don't look pregnant. I mean, seriously, what does she think I USUALLY look like?

I know, right?

Also, thank you! Apparently the second-trimester glow will soon give way to the third-trimester puff, but I'll just enjoy the benefits while they last.

Thank you for your many compliments and your tolerance of my continued SPN viewing :-)

I will try to post more often, but I have so little to say these days that isn't Munchy related, and I feel there's gotta be some kind of upper limit on how much people want to hear about that topic...

Hope you're well!

You look GORGEOUS. And, omg, an Al Swearingen fueled labor would be so awesome. Think of how quickly you'd get your ice chips, warm blankets and anesthesia. (I was mightily peeved last week when a word game I was playing wouldn't accept GLEET. I mean, c'mon!!)

I agree about SPN, it's a habit now, not an appointment, and omg, Justified is back in February. May I also recommend Terriers as wonderful storytelling awesomeness. You'd have to find it online, but it's worth the search.

Little boys are awesome. You're gonna have so much fun.

Thank you! And, yes, Al-inspired labor is looking better and better. My personal favorite (already memorized) is: "In life you have to do a lot of things you don't fucking want to do. Many times, that's what the fuck life is... one vile fucking task after another. But don't get aggravated... then the enemy has you by the short hairs." Which I think is pretty appropriate for the situation. But I've been scouring the internets for others and have many candidates...

Ooh, February is very close! It will be awesome to pick up Justified again. We don't have cable, so I haven't been watching Terriers and know nearly nothing about it, though I've heard people say good things. Guess we'll see how my arghmateying things off the Internet works with the newborn...

So excited to get our little guy out and ready to be played with. Plus, I have all these tiny little sweaters I want to put on him! (Is it wrong that I'm getting excited about dressing him up? I'm like a little girl with a new Barbie and a giant, pre-filled Barbie dream closet.)

This is one of my very, very favorite lines too. :D
