Mod Post: COMM RULE #5
There seems to be many concerns raised due to the clarification of COMM Rule #5. So here are a few answers to clarify all the questions.
1) So fanart icons are allowed?
Yes. Just make sure that all fanart icon post on the community is flocked. And that all fanart icons are credited by the artist. Flock+Credit and it's all good.
2) How about MAD youtube links?
Again, flock+credit and it's fine.
3) Cosplay icons?
Again, flock+credit who the cosplayers are and it's fine.
4) What if AMVs and the fanartists does not allow their work to be reposted?
We understand that certain people have specifically expressed that their work must not be reposted in any form. We understand that Altor have explained that her work must never be used as icons, and that certain [MAD] amvs have warnings saying 'please do not redistribute'. However, for the purpose of our community, we're allowing all this if they flock+credit on the community. It's unfair for the moderators to try to keep a list of 'which is allowed and which is not.' The moderators will NOT be responsible if the said creators comes and ask those posts to be taken down. That will be dealt between the two said parties. Now if the drama does occur because there is no peaceful conclusion, the moderator will step up and act accordingly to each situation.
5) Can i post on the community using fanart icons?
Yes, of course. We're not here to bite those who don't credit on their own personal lj for their use. That's their lj, and their choice. We have no say in that matter. We're just asking those who are making icons and distributing them on the community to please f-lock and credit respectfully.
6) Are pchats allowed?
Yes. If you drew parts of it, then yes. As long as your other partner(s) don't ask you to take it down, we see no problem.
7) My icons that I make are from Nico Nico Douga and usually, the artists of those videos are anonymous ^^; In terms of crediting, do I need to link them up to every MAD or linking to Nico Nico Douga is fine?
Yes, as long as you link all the MAD and nico nico douga, it's fine.
8) Can we have minimum requirements for fanarts and icons? It feels like spam to me too when icon "previews" are posted, I follow the link, wait for all the images to show up, and then discover that 47 of the 50 icons posted are from other series and the "previews" were really all there were of KHR icons to begin with.
There are no real minimum requirement for anything to be posted. We're not here to try to be controlling or restrictive. But more than 3 icons should be under f-cut. More than 1 video should be under f-cut for etiquette reasons. And fanart preview pictures should be decently small size.
Let us reiterate that we do not want to specifically create any more rules to restrict the freedom of posting on this community in general. We're not enforcing this rule to be more restrictive, but more to create less friction in the community.
