Being/Becoming
It’s not an illness. Not a plague. It’s merely shifting, changing; it is a swift and endless current in the great stream of becoming.
It’s progress, not mere means.
There is no end.
Not yet.
Their eyes meet for the first time in so long, too long -- one stops pretending to be dead; one stops pretending to be alive. They are more than what they have allowed themselves to be reduced to.
You were right. They don’t know which of them says it. Not that it matters.
Not anymore.
Once it reaches the heart, there’s nothing left. Everything they were: gone.
That’s exactly -- exactly -- what they’re hoping for.
