Much of my clothing comes from outdoorsy stores: ones that have men's and women's versions of the same thing. I started shopping at such stores because of pockets, but also because the quality of the women's products were much better when the customer can do a one-for-one comparison to the men's items in the store before purchasing.

I've not been in a dress or skirt for around 10 years, but all my pants have nicely deep pockets.

(I have to give kudos to Liz Clairborne at JCPenny's: I do have some cords from there, and they also have deep pockets. But all my other clothes are from outdoorsy shops like Eddie Bauer.)

I dodge the issue by wearing a belt pouch. QVC now has some nice ones that convert from a crossbody bag to a waist pouch. Mine is more casual, but boy is it rugged and holds a lot. Chris has a black leather belt pouch. It saves him from leaving important things in various pockets of different clothes, then forgetting which important thing is in which article of clothing and having him freak out. Actually, he still does that at times, just not as often as he otherwise would. Le sigh.

I carry a purse because it is FAR more useful and FAR more liberating. Before I took up the practice I was constantly frustrated at being out and about and not having with me something I need.
