As for other shows:
You should watch Glee The pilot is made of win. Granted...it's musical but still...I like the fact that the characters are people who you can connect with instead of being sugary coated high school students.
And oh! you mentioned True Blood. I want to watch that...

I watched half the pilot for Glee and died a little inside. I can't revisit high school. Too painful.
True Blood has its moments. I'm not a prude but there is a LOT of sex. Sex that I feel does not help move the plot along, and because I like the books I was really sad that plot fell by the wayside. Also you might understand that I feel like if HBO wanted to make a vampire show with lots of skanky sex they should have picked Anita Blake and not the Southern Vampire Mysteries. ASkars as Eric is made of WIN, he's a good actor and I love the character. Even more when they cut his hair in second season. Especially second season. The first season is on DVD, and HBO reruns second season a lot. Overall, I'd say it's worth watching. I wish there was a bigger fandom for it though. And I do not plan on watching third season just because I'm swearing off shows that make me care. Wow, I had a lot to say.
Also Castle. I will be watching Castle.
